Entry Requirements

  • Algerians intending to visit Cape Verde must first apply for an E-visa.
  • This online pre-visa can be granted by the Cape Verde consulate in the applicant's home country.
  • On presentation of the pre-visa at the border checkpoint of Cape Verde the traveller is then issued a visa on arrival.
  • This visa is valid for a maximum total of 30 days within a one-year period.
  • Alongside the printed confirmation that a visa will be issued upon arrival, the traveller must also have a return/onward ticket.
  • A proof of hotel accommodation is also needed, as well as an international certificate of vaccination.
  • Algerians visiting Cape Verde are required to provide a passport valid for at least six months with at least two blank pages for stamps on arrival and departure from Cape Verde.
  • The  C and F plug types are used in Cape Verde. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and type F is the plug which has two round pins with two earth clips on the side. Cape Verde's standard supply voltage is between 230V and 50Hz.
  • Those whose spouses are Capeverdean citizen are allowed to gain entry without a visa. But they are to provide a passport and an official document (birth certificate, wedding certificate) proving the relationship with a Capeverdean citizen.
  • The Cape Verdean law allows visitors to get their visa on arrival, if they are coming from a country without a Capeverdean embassy or consulate. 
  • Foreigners are only allowed entry into Cape Verde through these harbours; Praia (Island Santiago), Porto Grande / Mindelo (Island São Vicente), Palmeira (Island Sal). Any entry into a Capeverdean territory through a non-authorized harbour can be punished with a fine between 200 and 3000 EUR.
  • The Cape Verde e-visa allows applicants a single entry to Cape Verde, where they can stay in Cape Verde for up to 30 days. 
  • Applicants who intend to gain entry are expected to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate.
  • Having a  Pre-Arrival Registration for Cape Verde does not provide its holders automatic entry into Cape Verde. Immigration Officers at the point of entry may refuse entry to any person he considers unable to fulfil the immigration requirements or would threaten the national interests or security of Cape Verde. 
  • The Cape Verde Escudo's equivalent of 110.265 equals to 1 Euro. You can exchange your currencies at banks.  In most hotels and restaurants credit cards and euros are acceptable.
  • There is zero tolerance towards possessing, using or trafficking any type of illegal drugs. Penalties are severe, and convicted offenders can expect long jail sentences and heavy fines.
  • The language spoken in Cape Verde is the Cape Verdean Creole, a Portuguese-based creole language. 
  • Christianity is the most religion practised in Cape verde.
