Entry Requirements

  • Those  intending to visit Rwanda must first apply for an E-visa.
  • This online pre-visa can be granted by the Rwandan consulate in the applicant's home country.
  • On presentation of the pre-visa at the border checkpoint of Rwanda the traveler is then issued a visa on arrival.
  • This visa is valid for a maximum total stay of 30 days within a one-year period.
  • The  visa will be issued upon arrival to the traveler, and he/she  must have a return/onward ticket.
  • A proof of hotel accommodations is also needed, as well as an international certificate of vaccination.
  • Algerians visiting Rwanda are required to provide a passport with six months of validity and with at least two blank pages for stamps on arrival and departure.
  • Kimihurura, Kiyovu, and Kacyiru are the most popular neighborhoods in Rwanda,  and where many of the big hotels, best restaurants, and cutest stores in the city are located.
  • Visitors are only allowed take  photos of the gorillas they track, the food they eat, and the scenery they admire, but are prohibited  to take pictures of Rwandans – both adults and children – without asking for permission first.
  • Eating in public, even if it’s a cookie, an apple, or energy bar, is frowned upon in Rwanda. Especially outside Kigali, which would be considered fairly disrespectful. You are expected to eat your meals in the privacy of a restaurant or a hotel room.
  • Tourists are banned from bringing in plastic bags.  The plastic bags would be confiscated at the airport.  Any attempt at doing so is breaking one of Rwanda's environmental laws.
