Application requirements
Documents Algerian applicants need to provide.
- Valid passport or travel document which continues to be valid three months after the projected date of leaving the territory of Spain. The passport or travel document must have been issued within the last 10 years.
- Original copy of visa application form (official form EX-01) duly filled and signed.
- Recent clear 4.5cmx3.5cm passport photograph which must not have been used in the passport. The photograph must be taken against a light background and must show the full face of the applicant.
- Accreditation of economic means. The minimum amount to be accredited for each traveler per day in Spain is €90 with a minimum of €180 or its equivalent in foreign currency.
- Return ticket or tourist circuit.
- Proof of place of lodging for the length of your stay in Spain. You could provide a document from a lodging establishment or a letter of invitation from an individual in Spain with the content of the letter confirming your accommodation.
- Confirmation of a booking or organized trip with a travel itinerary.
- Travel health insurance.
Visa type details
Tourist visa
- Foreign nationals with the aim of entering the territory of Spain for a short period of time are the eligible applicants of this visa type.
- This visa also satisfies the purpose of a private visit. A letter of invitation from the private individual you will be meeting up with should be provided if a private visitation is your main purpose of visiting.
- The content of the letter of invitation must exclusively provide proof of the existence of suitable accommodation available to the Algerian traveling to Spain.
- The document justifying the availability of accommodation to the foreigner must also state if that forms all or part of the support the host is willing to extend to the visitor.
- You are required to provide a confirmation of an organized trip.
- Foreigners are expected to have adequate economic resources for the duration of their stay in the country. The amount considered as appropriate is €90 per person per day or its equivalent in any currency.
- All those traveling to Spain must be in possession of a medical certificate which shows that they possess no health threat to anyone residing in Spain.
- In the case of the absence of the medical certificate, foreigners are subjected to undergo a medical examination upon their arrival at the border.
- A document which justifies the object and the conditions of the entry and planned stay is required.
- Algerians are obligated to declare their entry into Spain before the Spanish police authorities as soon as they arrive in the country.
- In the case where there is no police post at the border, entry statement must be, made at any police station of the National Police or immigration Office within a maximum of three days of entry into the country.
- If you are staying in Spain for more than the allocated time on your visa, you may be refused entry into the country in the future.

Business visa
- This visa is issued to foreign nationals visiting Spain to take part in professional or scientific reasons.
- The invitation from a company which authorizes the visa applicant to participate in meetings, conventions, etc of a commercial or industrial nature must be submitted.
- Foreigners traveling to the country for business reasons are required to present documents that shows that there exists a commercial or industrial relationship between the host company and the sponsoring company.
- You are required to own access cards to trade fairs, congresses, conventions, etc, you wish to attend during your time in the country.
- Invitations, entry cards, reservations or programs with indication, as far as possible, of the name of the inviting body and the duration of the applicant’s stay, should be provided.
- Applicants of this visa are required to have a document which indicates the purpose of their visit to Spain.
- The activities to be carried out in Spain by holders of this visa must not be aimed at generating income.
- Travelers to Spain should ensure they obtain a medical certificate from a medical institution in Algeria before departing for Spain. Foreigners who do not have a medical certificate will have to undergo a mandatory medical examination upon arrival at the border.
- Algerians whose criminal record certificate shows the presence of previous convictions will be refused entry into the country.
- If you have been previously expelled by Spain or any of the Schengen member states, you may not be granted entry into the country.
Work visa
- The Work Visa is for nationals of Algeria who intend to work in Spain.
- This visa allows you to perform any lucrative, labor or professional activity during your time in the country.
- Applicants of this visa must be over the age of 16 years unless the work activity is carried out on its own. If the work activity is carried out on its own, the minimum age of eligible applicants rises to 18 years.
- Foreigners are expected to obtain authorization to reside and work in Spain before they leave their home country.
- The authorization obtained by the visa applicant must be requested by the prospective employer in Spain who is offering the employment contract.
- A copy of the employment contract or work certificate issued by the employer in Spain should be provided.
- Foreign workers should apply for an identity card valid for Spain as soon he/she gains entry into the country.
- A medical certificate which proves that you pose no health threat to the residents of Spain should be provided.
- If the original copy of a document to be submitted during the visa application is in Arabic, the English or French translation of the document should be submitted with the original.
- Applicants who have the intention of visiting two or more Schengen countries should apply for the visa at the Embassy of the country at which they will be staying the longest.
- Ensure your application is complete, clear, and signed where necessary. If any document is missing, unclear or unsigned, your application may be rejected.
Student visa
- This visa type is issued to foreign citizens who have the intention of studying or extending their studies in Spain.
- Foreigners who have the intention of carrying out researches, participating in unpaid internships, participating in exchanges of students or who intend to carry out volunteer services are eligible for this visa.
- You are required to present the registration document of a teaching center authorizing you to take part in theoretical and practical training courses.
- Certificates relating to the courses followed must be made available.
- Students who are authorized to stay in Spain for more than six months are expected to obtain a foreign student card before the Foreigners Office or the corresponding police station within one month of their entry in Spain.
- Foreign students who are below 19 years of age will require parental permission if they are traveling unaccompanied.
- All the documents to be submitted by the applicant of this visa must be translated to French or Spanish if they are not already in either of the languages.
- Submission of all the necessary documents for the visa application does not translate into you being automatically granted this visa.
- Applicants who present incomplete, unclear and unsigned application at the Embassy or Consulate will not be granted this visa.
- Visa fee paid cannot be refunded.
Transit visa
- The Transit Visa must be requested personally or through a duly accredited representative in the Spanish Diplomatic or Consular Office in which the applicant is living.
- Applicants are expected to pay a non-refundable fee of €60 for the Transit Visa.
- The maximum processing time for the Transit Visa is 15 days, it may be extended to 30 days in cases where a more detailed examination of the application is required.
- The visa can be picked up in person by the visa applicant or by the authorized representative of the applicant.
- Applicants who have their visa application rejected will receive a notification by means of a standardized form stating the reason for the refusal of the visa.
- Flight ticket to the applicant’s destination country is required.
- Foreigners who exceed the duration they have been granted to stay in Spain may not be allowed to enter the country in the future.
