Japan Visitor Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Japan visitor visa is issued to aliens who want to visit relatives, friends or acquaintances.
  • Individuals who want to go on sight-seeing are to get a tourist visa.
  • The documents required for a visitor visa and a tourist visa are similar.
  • Applicants are to provide proof of return ticket. This could be in the form of a certificate or a confirmation slip.
  • Before travelling to Japan, you are required to have sufficient funds that will cover all expenses during the trip. A bank certificate of deposit balance not older than three months can be issued as proof.
  • Visitors and tourists are required to provide a copy of their trip itinerary. This should state the applicant’s arrival and departure date, the port of entry into Japan and daily activities to be carried out.
  • For visitors, documents stating the relationship between the invited and the invitee are required. It could be a marriage or birth certificate, photos, emails.
  • Tourists must have a proof of hotel reservation that will be valid for the duration of the application.
  • A letter of invitation addressed to the Japanese ambassador, stating the purpose of the visit to Japan should be presented along with other documents.
  • Japan issues single and multiple entry visas both valid for 90 days.
  • Minors are to attach a copy of their birth certificate to their application form.
  • In the case that the Japanese host is the spouse of the visiting individual, a certified copy of the family register known as Kosekitohon will be required.
  • Applications are to be submitted in person to the Japanese embassy.
  • If a visa is refused, the applicant will be notified of the decision via the embassy or consulate of Japan.
  • You will be deported for overstaying your visa.
  • Be ready to leave Japan before your visa expires as visas are non-extendable.

Japan Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • A Japanese business visa is issued for the purpose of participating in business meetings, signing of contracts, after-sale services.
  • Botswana citizens are also eligible for this visa if they are travelling for business consultations, cultural or sports exchange.
  • Proof of previous dealing with inviting company in Japan is required if there is any.
  • It is illegal to engage in any revenue-generating activity while in Japan with this visa.
  • Individuals can also not receive remuneration for services rendered with this visa.
  • It is a short-stay, non-extendable visa valid for 90 days and can be single-entry or multiple-entry.
  • Employed applicant should also submit an employment letter or certificate of employment.    
  • They should also have a letter from their employer containing a travel requisition or stating that the employer is aware of the business trip and will fund the mission. 
  • If your employer is not funding the trip, a guarantor is required. The guarantor should present a valid certificate of Income stating the gross income for the previous year.
  • An invitation letter should be issued by the partner company or organization in Japan. The letter should state the details of the contract between both parties.
  • The inviting party must be a corporate body or a professor at a University.
  • Registered companies should present a certified copy of the corporate register and unregistered companies are to prepare a summary of the company.
  • If the applicant is going to a conference, pre-registration is required and the conference materials should also be provided. 
  • Where several individuals are travelling in a group, a list of all persons in the group is required.
  • All submitted documents should not be older than three months from the date of application.
