Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Iraqi Visa.

  • A Burkina Faso passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs (35 mm x 45 mm) taken in white background.

Foreigners are expected to obey Islamic laws while in the country and avoid trying to preach your beliefs to Iraqis.  You are not allowed to be in possession of more than $10,000 or its equivalent upon entry to Iraq.

Iraq Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Iraqi tourist visa is issued to Burkinabés who have the intention of visiting Iraq for sightseeing, relaxation, recreation, and pilgrimage.
  • This visa is a single-entry visa, and it is valid for 30 days.
  • Tourist visas to Iraq for foreigners need to be applied inside Iraq by an Iraqi sponsor who gives a copy of the passport of the applicant with a responsibility letter to the Iraqi Ministry of Interior Affairs department and asks them to send the approval to the closest Iraqi Consulate for the applicant, then the consulate will issue the visa directly.
  • For groups of 5 people or more, the visa must be applied through the Iraqi tourist companies which are contracted with the Iraqi Ministry of Tourism.
  • Travelers are required to provide an approval reference number that is issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior Affairs department.
  • It is important that visitors acquire a residency stamp within their first seven days in the country.  There is a high-cost penalty for visitors who do not obtain the required residency stamp.
  • Immunization records are required by travelers upon arrival in Iraq.
  •  Iraq has imposed HIV/AIDS travel restrictions on all visitors and new residents, they must have an HIV blood test during their first seven days in the country or face a fine.
  • The emergency line in Iraq is “130” from both mobile and fixed-line telephones. Please note that responders do not speak English.
  • You are subject to local laws. If you violate local laws, even unknowingly, you may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned.
  • Customs officers have the authority to search travelers and their belongings at Iraqi ports of entry. Officers may confiscate any goods they deem may pose a threat to the peace, security, health, environment, or social order of Iraq. 
  • Basic, modern medical care and medicines are not widely available in Iraq. Travelers are advised to bring their own medications and have it declared.

Iraq Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Iraqi business visa enables Burkinabés to engage in business activities whilst they are in Iraq.
  • There are two types of Iraqi business visa:
    • Single-entry visa - valid for three months.
    • Multiple-entry visa - valid for six months to one year.
  • A letter from your employer in Burkina Faso addressed to the Consulate of Iraq stating the nature of the business to be conducted, as well as, the name of the company you will be conducting business with should be provided.
  • An official letter of invitation from your partner company in Iraq written on the company’s letterhead and stating the purpose and duration of the applicants' visit is also needed.
  • The letter must contain the following:
    • Nature of business to be performed.
    • Name and address of reference to be visited.
    • The letter should request multiple--entries visa if required.
    • Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
    • The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.
  • If the Iraqi company is going to be responsible for your expenses in the country, it should be stated in the invitation letter.
  • Certificate of business registration of the company you are visiting in Iraq.
  • A medical report is required to be submitted for a business visa for Iraq for the tests of CBC, HIV, hepatitis, and vaccination of malaria.
