Tourist visa
- Burundians can apply for the Algerian tourist visa if their intention is to visit Algeria for tourism or leisure.
- Proof of accommodation must be provided, either a hotel reservation or a cruise reservation. If you are planning on staying in various hotels, you need to provide proof of each reservation.
- If you are going to be staying with family or friends in Algeria, you need an inviting letter from the host.
- Travelers must declare at Customs if they are traveling with more than 3000 Algerian dinars.
- The CDC and WHO recommend the following vaccinations for Algeria: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera, yellow fever, rabies, meningitis, polio, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, pneumonia, and influenza.
- Travelers are prohibited from taking Algerian dinars out of the country.
- When your passport is stamped upon entry, check how long you can stay. You may be able to request an extension of stay from the Ministry of Interior (Office of Foreigners).
- However, if you overstay your visa without an approved extension, you may need to appear before a judge prior to departing Algeria. If you are in this situation, see your local police station.
- Avoid travel to rural areas within 50 km (31 miles) of the Algerian border with Tunisia and within 250 km (155 miles) of the borders with Libya, Niger, Mali, and Mauritania due to terrorist and criminal activities.

- It is illegal to change money on the black market. You should only exchange foreign currency at banks or authorized currency exchange locations, such as major hotels.

- Applicants must provide during the visa application, a letter containing the following:
- The full name, address and contact details of the host company.
- Specify the purpose and duration of stay.
- Include an acceptance of financial responsibility for the applicant.
- Be signed by the applicant's host company.
- Travelers must provide return tickets. The return tickets can be obtained without paying the actual amount from an authentic travel agency. This is to ensure that you will return to your country after your work is done.
- It is compulsory to attach a letter of sponsorship from your employer stating that you are travelling to Algeria as part of your business. In case you’re self-employed, you need to have the employment contract, instead of the letter of sponsorship.
- Bank statements for the last 6 months are among the most important documents needed to get your visa approved. It shows that you are financially capable to make the trip.
- You need to submit the original invitation from the Algerian company that you’re planning to visit. Note that it must be duly attested by the Algerian chamber of commerce. You can courier the document directly to the embassy so that they are safely enclosed with the other documents.
- Foreigners must contact the Ministry of Interior, Foreigners Office, before engaging in any travel within the interior of the country.
- The Ministry will notify local police of the planned travel and the police may choose to assign escorts for that travel.
