Visa type details

Visitor Visa

  • Canadian visitor visa is used for exploring Canada.
  • Individuals who want to tour, sightsee, attend ceremonies and go on a vacation in Canada can apply for this visa.
  • It can also be used to visit friends and relatives residing in Canada.
  • The Canadian visitor visa is usually issued for single-entry, double-entry or multiple-entry.
  • The single-entry visa allows just one entry into Canada, the double-entry visa allows two times entry while the multiple-entry visa allows several entries into Canada with the same visa for as long as the visa is valid.
  • The Single-entry visa is valid for a maximum stay of 180 days while the multiple-entry visa can be valid for up to 10 years.
  • If you would be staying with your relative or friend during your trip to Canada, you are required to have an invitation letter from your host.
  • This invitation letter should contain your full details, the relationship between you and the host, purpose of the trip and duration of stay. It should also contain the host's details and contact address.
  • Applicants are to provide evidence that they can financially support themselves through their stay in Canada.
  • The financial evidence could be a recent bank statement, letter of employment showing annual earnings or proof of support from a relative or employer.
  • Applicants would also need to convince the consul that they would return to Cambodia at the expiration of their visa.
  • You can convince them by providing documents of assets owned in Cambodia, proof of your family ties or employment in Cambodia.
  • Identity or civil documents are also required for your visa application.
  • Before you would be issued a visa, you have to prove that you do not have any previous criminal records and that you are not a danger to the Canadian society.
  • Individuals are advised to have travel insurance before going to Canada in case any medical emergency comes up during their stay.
  • This visa can also be used to seek medical treatments in Canada but cannot be used to seek employment.
  • Minors are to submit their birth certificate and a letter of authorization for the travel, signed by both parents or legal guardians.

Student visa

  • A Canada student visa is issued to persons who want to study in Canada.
  • The student visa is typically a combination of a visitor's visa and a study permit.
  • This visa allows individuals to begin their study in Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) in Canada.
  • DLIs are schools or universities which are approved by the provincial or territorial government to allow them to host international students.
  • If an institution loses its status while you are attending it, you can continue studying there until your study permit expires.
  • Programs less than six months require only a visitor's visa.
  • Before applying for this visa, you must have a valid acceptance letter from the DLI printed on the school's letterhead, stating the program of study, amount of tuition na d starts and finish dates of the program.
  • Individuals must have a clean criminal record from where they have resided in Cambodia within the past six months with letters from the court and police to prove it.
  • You must also fill and sign a Visa Application Center (VAC) Consent Form.
  • A declaration letter from the applicant to the Government of Canada explaining why you need the study permit and visa is required.
  • Applicants would have to undergo medical examinations to prove that they do not have any disease that is contagious.
  • You also need to submit your results and certificates from previous education.
  • Students are also to show that they can cover their expenses during their studies. This could be in form of a Canadian bank account in the name of the applicant, student loan, receipt of tuition and housing fees, or a scholarship.
  • All the documents must be translated into English or French and you must have certifications and proof that the translation is correct.
  • The Canada student visa is valid for the length of your study program and an additional 90 days which allows you to prepare to leave Canada or extend your visa.
  • If you have to leave Canada to visit your family in Cambodia, on your return, you have to provide proof of your status.
