Portugal Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Portuguese business visa is for Cabo Verdeans who wish to visit Portugal in order to engage in business activities.
  • While you are in the country on this visa, you can meet up with business partners for meetings and negotiate and sign contracts.
  • Applicants are allowed to attend trade fairs, conferences, and business summits while you in the country.
  • An invitation letter from the company tye applicant will be visiting in Portugal should be provided. 
  • The address of the company to be visited and the dates of the applicant’s visit should be stated in the letter.
  • If the company you are meeting with in Portugal will be responsible for your expenses while you are in the country, it should be stated in the cover letter.
  • A letter from your employer in Cape Verde stating awareness and allowance of your business travel for the duration of your time in the country is to be provided.
  • Proof of previous trade relations between the applicant and the company or the home country and the company in Portugal is to be provided if there have been any.
  • A certificate of business registration of the Portuguese business partner/company is to be provided.
  • Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up paid or unpaid employment with this visa type.
  • The applicant is to return to Cape Verde on or before the expiration of this visa.

Portugal Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Portuguese medical visa is for Cabo Verdeans who wish to visit Portugal for medical treatment.
  • Persons who wish to accompany sick applicants for their treatments are also eligible applicants of this visa.
  • Portugal has a state-funded universal healthcare system offered to all.
  • A medical diagnosis from your local doctor in Cape Verde is to he provided. 
  • The diagnosis should be accompanied by a document stating why the ailment is best treated in Portugal and not in Cape Verde.
  • If the applicant's treatment is going to exceed the 90 day validity, they are to be issued a certificate from the local council office.
  • This certificate allows its holder to access Portugal’s public healthcare services.
  • A medical attestation from a hospital or doctor in Portugal, confirming the applicant's appointment dates as well as their medical situation is required.
  • Proof of International health insurance for the entire Schengen area is to be provided. 
  • The insurance must have a minimum coverage of 30,000Euros. 
  • It must also have an emergency medical evacuation and repatriation benefit.
  • If the applicant is employed, a letter from their employer is required. 
  • The employer is to mention in the letter that they are aware of the applicants leave. 
  • Applicants job position and how long the applicant has been employed in the company should be clearly stated.
  • Proof of payment of medical fees for the treatment in Portugal is to be provided.
  • Minors must ensure they possess the original copy of their birth certificate. 
  • If they are traveling alone or with one of their parents, a document of consent which must have been signed by both parents of the minor should be provided.

Portugal Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Portuguese student visa is for students who have the intention of studying in any school in Portugal.
  • Applicant must have been offered admission into one of the institutions of learning in Portugal before applying for this visa.
  • An extension to this visa can be granted to cover the duration of the applicants study program in the country.
  • Once a student applies for a long-stay student visa, a residence permit will need to be applied for upon arriving in Portugal from the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF)
  • An enrollment certificate of the courses to be attended must be provided.
  • The duration of the study and the study type should be stated in the letter.
  • A proof of confirmed accommodation for the applicant's duration of stay is to be provided.
  • Admission letter from the institution you have been accepted into must be submitted. 
  • This is proof that the applicant can attend lectures and write exams at school.
  • Certificates and transcripts of the previously attended schools is also to be provided.
  • Proof of the applicants financing must be submitted.
  • This could be bank statements of the applicant or parents/guardians, this could also a scholarship or sponsorship letter.
  • A minimum of 38 Euros daily for the applicant's stay is to be provided.

Portugal Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is for applicants who wish to travel to Portugal for tourism and sightseeing purposes. 
  • Persons who wish to visit friends and relatives in the country are also eligible for this visa.
  • There are two types of tourist visas,
  • Schengen C-type visa which is valid in Schengen states. 
  • It entitles the holder to stay in the territory of all Schengen states and holds a 90-day validity.
  • There is also the national D-type visa which is for visitors who intend to stay in the territory of Portugal for at least 91 days, during one or more visits within a half-year period from the date of first entry.
  • Travelers are required to provide proof of travel medical insurance with a minimum of 30,000Euros coverage within Portugal and the entire Schengen area.
  • Portuguese tourist visa applicants must have at least 53Euros per day to cover their daily expenses for the duration of their whole stay.
  • Foreigners are to register with Portuguese Immigration Service within three days of entry into Portugal. 
  • Failure to comply with this requirement will result in an administrative offense punishable with a fine from €60 to €160.
  • Bank statement that shows that the applicant has enough money to cover the cost of their trip to Portugal and daily expenses while still in the country.
  • Proof of accommodation must be provided.
  • This could be hotel reservations or the address of the invitee. 
  • Applicants are advised not to make hotel booking before they are given this visa to avoid paying cancellation fees.
