- Payments during the visa application process should be made by money order or cashier’s check (not cash).
- Vaccinations against measles, polio, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis are necessary before you can gain entry into Russia.
- Photographs and printed matter directed against the Russian Federation is prohibited.
- Cats and dogs must be accompanied by an international veterinary passport or veterinarian health certificate.
- Import of local currency(Russian Rouble-RUB) and foreign currencies have no restrictions.
- Written declaration is required for import of amounts over 3,000.
- Travelers caught with the possession of drugs would be prosecuted.
- Public transport is the best way to get around in most cities, especially the larger ones equipped with a subway system.
- Russians certainly don’t drink their tap water. It isn’t uncommon even to open the tap to see some brown water coming out for a little while.

- The student visa extensions can be made at the local division of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation (FMS of Russia).
- Applicants must been offered an admission to the school of your choice in Russia before you are granted a visa.
- The following documents are required during the visa application process:
- The Russian university, institute or college has to write an official letter confirming applicant admission.
- Previous educational certificates from past institutions attended.
- A proof that tuition fees has been paid.
- A copy of HIV test result which must be certified at the local office of the secretary of your state and translated into Russian.
- Student visa Applicants should have at least 325,425 RUB (USD 5,000) per year to cover all stay expenses in Russia.
- You will require a work permit from the Federal Migration Service (FMS) if you want to work as a student. The cost of a work permit for those on a Russian study visa is RUB 3,500 (USD 60).
- A certified document that shows that the applicants are in prefect shape should be presented.
