Application requirements

- An original Ethiopian passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you intend to leave Sierra Leone with at least 2 blank pages.
- Duly completed and signed visa application form.

- An international certificate of vaccination for Yellow Fever and Cholera.
- Invitation letter from your host in Sierra Leone.
- Proof of hotel or private accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Sierra Leone.
- Copy of your return flight ticket or travel itinerary.
- Proof of payment of the visa fee.
Visa type details
Tourist visa
- Ethiopians who intend to travel to Sierra Leone for sightseeing, tourism, vacation and other leisure activities are eligible to apply for the tourist visa.
- Your original Ethiopian passport must have a validity of not less than 6 months beyond the intended date of departure from Sierra Leone. There must be at least two blank visa pages left in your passport.
- You must submit a fully completed and signed visa application form. Incomplete forms may delay the processing of your visa application.
- You need 1 passport-size photograph (35x45mm) for your visa application. Digital or edited photos are not allowed.
- As proof that you intend to leave Sierra Leone when your visa expires, you are required to provide a copy of your return flight ticket to Ethiopia or your country of origin.
- If you have a letter of invitation from a resident of Sierra Leone, you are required to provide such a letter. This letter must clearly state your name, purpose of your travel, how long you intend to stay in the country and the contact details of your host.
- Proof of private or hotel accommodation in Sierra Leone is required for your visa application.
- You must also submit a copy of your travel itinerary, showing places you intend to visit in Sierra Leone.
- If you are a minor, you must provide a letter of consent from your parents or guardians granting you permission to travel to Sierra Leone.
- You must provide proof of payment for the visa fee. This fee is non-refundable.
Business visa
- The Sierra Leone business visa is issued to foreign nationals who intend to travel to Sierra Leone for any business activity.
- To obtain the Sierra Leonean business visa, your Ethiopian passport must have a validity of not less than 6 months beyond the intended date of departure from Sierra Leone. There must be at least two blank visa pages left in your passport.
- You must submit a fully completed and signed visa application form. Incomplete forms may delay the processing of your visa application. The visa application form may be submitted in person or by post.
- 1 passport-size photograph (35x45mm) that meets the specification(s) for a Sierra Leone visa photo is required for your visa application. Digital or edited photos will not be allowed.
- You must submit a letter of invitation from a registered company or organisation in Sierra Leone, stating the purpose of your visit and how long you intend to stay in the country.
- A business letter signed by an officer of your company in Ethiopia must also be provided. This letter should state the purpose of your trip, a guarantee of sufficient funds for the entire duration of your trip, the nature of your company's business and contact of a partner company in Sierra Leone.
- If you have no business partner company in Sierra Leone but you have plans to do so, you must provide evidence of your company's credibility and financial standing.
- As proof that you intend to leave Sierra Leone when your visa expires, you are required to provide a copy of your return flight ticket to your country of origin.
- You must provide proof of hotel accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Sierra Leone.
- You may apply for a multiple-entry visa if you intend to entire Sierra Leone multiple times. This multiple-entry visa is valid for either 6 months or a year.
