Tanzania Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Ethiopians intending to travel to Tanzania for tourism purposes can apply for the Tanzanian tourist visa.
- There are two types of Tanzanian tourist visa:
- Single-Entry Visa – This visa allows you entry into Tanzania once for the purpose of visiting, leisure, medical treatment, studies or any other activity considered legal by the Tanzanian government. You may stay in the country for a maximum of 90 days.
- Multiple-Entry Visa – This visa is ideal for people who need to make frequent visits to Tanzania. The maximum validity of the multiple-entry visa is 12 months. Each visit has a maximum stay of up to 90 days.
- Travelers are required to provide proof of yellow fever vaccination.
- Travelers should provide flight itinerary, ticket or tour operator package receipt.
- US Dollars are accepted almost everywhere in Tanzania. There is no need to exchange your US Dollars into Tanzanian Shillings while in Tanzania.
- Most merchants will round up to the nearest dollar when doing a currency conversion so you may experience less buying power using US cash.
- Travelers are required to declare international currency valuing more than $10,000 on both entrance and exit from Tanzania.
- Ethiopians are prohibited from exporting Tanzanian Shillings.
- Stay alert when walking on beaches, footpaths, and roads; especially on Zanzibar, in Dar es Salaam, and Arusha.
- Penalties for possession or sale of illegal drugs of any kind are severe in Tanzania, with a minimum sentence of seven years imprisonment for simple possession and 30 years to life for more serious charges.
- In Tanzania, it is illegal to export an animal or animal part (including live or dead animal parts, such as skins, bones, teeth, and feathers) without export certification from the Tanzanian government.
- Photographing military installations is forbidden. Individuals have been detained and/or had their cameras and film confiscated for taking pictures of hospitals, schools, bridges, industrial sites, and airports. Sites where photography is prohibited are not always marked.
Tanzania Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Tanzanian business visa is available to Ethiopians intending to travel to Tanzania for business purposes.
- The Tanzanian business visa will only be granted for the following purposes:
- To conduct special assignments, including fixing/repairing machines or to run short-term training, etc.
- For professional roles such as auditing accounts etc.
- In order to conduct lawful business according to the laws of the country
- Applicants are required to provide an Introductory letter from the organization either in Ethiopia or Tanzania.
- For sponsored applicants, a letter from employer or sponsoring company should be provided introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant's employment status/position held in the company and clearly stating the purpose of visit to Tanzania.
- The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Tanzania.
- Certificate of Business Registration of the inviting company should be submitted with other necessary documents.
