Documents Gabonese applicants need to provide.
- The Gabon passport must have at least 6 months of validity. The standard immigration practice is to reject passports with validity shorter than 6 months. In cases like these, you will not be allowed to exit Gabon or enter Japan.
- The passport must have at least 2 blank pages to attach the visa sticker.
- The applicant's passport must be in good condition. Broken and unreadable passports are not accepted.
- A duly completed visa application form is required from the applicant.
- Handwritten and computerized forms are both accepted.
- Use a black pen or font. Do not use a pencil or one of those erasable pens.
- 4.5cm x 4.5 cm passport photograph taken against a white background is required.
- The passport photograph must be taken within the past 6 months.
- The passport photograph should be pasted on the designated area on the application form. Do not staple.
- Applicants are required to provide a copy of their daily itinerary in Japan.
- Applicants are required to submit a copy of their Income tax return (ITR).
- Bank certificate which has been issued within the past 3 months showing proof of sufficient funds for the whole duration of stay in Japan is required.
- Receipt showing that the applicant has fully paid the visa application fee is required.
- An invitation letter from the host in Japan is required.
- Photocopy of the Income Tax Return (ITR ) of the host is required.

Tourist visa
- Filled out and signed Japan tourist visa application form.
- Original, signed Nigeria passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
- 2 Include a passport-style photo, with a white background, taken within the last 6 months.
- Copy of round trip tickets or confirmed itinerary.
- Copies of bank statements from the past 6 months.
- If staying with friends or family, a letter of invitation from the host in Japan, notarised by the appropriate city hall in Japan can be used instead of the hotel reservation.
- Copy of tourist voucher issued by tourist company or hotel in Japan approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Copy of confirmed hotel reservations serving as proof of accommodation in Japan.
- Letter of invitation from friends or family stating the purpose of travel and duration of stay in Japan.
- The letter must also state the relationship with the applicant.
- Applicants of tourist visa should not, for any reason, take up paid work in Japan.
Business visa
- Completely filled and signed Japan business visa application form.
- Original Gabon passport valid for at least 6 months after the intended stay in Japan.
- 2 Include a passport-style photo, with a white background, taken within the last 6 months.
- Copy of round trip tickets or confirmed itinerary showing details of activities to be carried out in Japan.
- Copies of bank statements from the past 6 months showing that the applicant has enough funds for the whole duration of stay in Japan.
- A letter from the applicant’s employer (on business letterhead, with contact details), stating that a leave of absence has been granted and that the applicant will be returning to the current job.
- If the applicant is self-employed, a copy of the business license and tax return is required.
- Copy of confirmed hotel reservations as proof of accommodation in Japan.
- A business invitation letter from the company in Japan is required. The letter should be printed on company letterhead stationery and signed by a senior manager.
- The business letter must briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant), state the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Japan.
