Basic Travel Requirements for Ghanaians visiting Brazil

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Brazilian Visa.

    • Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel.
    • Passport-size photographs of 35 x 44 mm dimension with 80% of the face size and taken in white background.
    • Online visa application forms of the applicant.
    • A letter which states the details of travel such as dates and the number of people travelling.
    • Air tickets along with the E-ticket number.
    • A day-to-day itinerary in Brazil of the applicant.
    • A letter of leave from the concerned school/college or organisation at which the applicant is employed.
    • A document stating registration of the company.
    • The visa candidate’s income tax returns from the past 3 years.
    • The visa candidate’s bank statements from the previous 6 months with substantial amount of money in the account, seal of the concerned bank and its signature.
    • Salary slip of the candidate from the past three months from the most recent organisation he or she has worked for.

Brazil is also known to be a popular destination to engage in business activities. The country has one of the 7 Wonders of the World, the Christ the Redeemer statue.
 
Brazil is the main destination in South America and second in Latin America. In 2015, the number of tourist visit exceeded 6 million and this contributed to about $5.8 billion to the economy, continuing a recovery trend from the 2008-2009 economic crisis. An all-time high of 5.4 million visitors and $6.8 billion were attained in 2011.
  
Citizens of Armenia, Austria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, South Korea, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom can stay in the country for up to 90 days without a visa. Venezuelans can also visit the country for 60 days without a visa.

Brazil Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Brazilian tourist visa is issued to persons intending to visit Brazil for tourism or to see friends and family living in Brazil.
  • You need to check the validity of your passport before applying for your visa. Your passport needs to be valid for at least another six months from your departure date before it can be used.
  • You are allowed to spend a maximum of 180 days in Brazil over the course of a year. You will be given a 90-day visa from the start, but you can apply for an extension while in Brazil.
  • You can do this at the Federal Police of Brazil, but only before your visa expires.
  • You are not allowed to work, go to school, or engage in business activities while on a Brazil tourist visa. You will be deported if you do so.
  • The visa candidate’s bank statements from the previous 6 months with substantial amount of money in the account should be presented.
  • If the applicant has reached retirement then he or she has to provide the proof of retirement or the pension order.
  • If the candidate to apply for the Brazilian passport is a student then he or she has to provide a bona fide certificate or student ID.
  • The applicant also has to produce a document to the immigration department that clears him or her from yellow fever.
  • For children below 7 years, birth certificate along with an evidence of polio vaccination needs to be provided.

Brazil Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This type of visa is issued to businessmen, representatives or employees of foreign companies who want to visit Brazil for business purposes.
  • With this visa, applicants can attend business meetings and conferences and conclude contracts.
  • A covering letter from the applicant’s company is required. The letter must have the company’s letterhead, the name of the company,  the designation of the candidate, the department he or she works in and the contact number.
  • A notarized letter of invitation from the concerned organisation in Brazil is needed. The letter should be written in both English and Portuguese. The letter should also include all the details of the company, such as the registration number of the organisation, the duration and purpose of stay of the applicant.
  • If the applicant is a business owner, a copy of your certificate of business registration and latest tax returns is required.
  • If your employer is to assume the financial responsibility of your trip, it should be stated in the letter from your employer.
  • Proof of previous business dealings in the company should be provided, if any.

Brazil Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Brazilian work visa is for foreign workers or employees of foreign companies assigned to work in Brazil.
  • A letter verifying the applicant’s employment is required. Applicants are advised to be sure they have been offered a job in Brazil before initiating the application.
  • A letter from your future employer should be submitted. The letter should be written on the company’s letterhead and should state the address of the company and your job description.
  • Your employment contract which determines the terms of employment signed by both the employer and the employee is required.
  • Your employer will need to provide proof that there was no Brazilian willing and available to take up the job before you were offered the job.
  • Applicants of this visa who do not have the right qualification which matches the job they have been offered may not be issued this visa.
  • Proof from your employer that you will not be paid below the minimum wage paid to citizens of the country.
  • If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate is required. A notarized consent signed by both the minor’s parent should also be submitted.
  • The short-term work visa which is valid for 90 days can be obtained by foreign nationals willing to work in Brazil by getting an approval directly from the Brazilian consular offices. The applicant needs to provide the contract that has been signed as proof to the immigration department.
  • The applicant needs to take out a print out of the application form that he or she will fill by logging onto the link https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp  and paste a photograph in it. The application which is known as the ‘online confirmation page’ needs to be submitted at the embassy.
  • Along with the ‘online confirmation form’ other documents such as letter of invitation from the Brazilian company, CNPJ number of the Brazilian organization and proof of visa fees payment need to be submitted.
