Basic Travel Requirements for Ghanaians visiting Romania

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Romanian Visa.

A Ghanaian passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
Duly completed and signed visa application form.
If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
Passport-size photographs (3.5×4.5 cm in dimension) taken in white background.
Travel document.
Proof of financial support.
Proof of accommodation
Copy of return flight ticket
Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer.

Facts about Romania

Romania is known for its fortified churches and castles. The most popular of these castles is the clifftop, Brahms Castle. The castle is often referred to as being Dracula’s castle. "Dracula’s Castle” is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists yearly. Another popular destination in the country is the Carpathian Mountains, which are popular for trekking, skiing, climbing, and bathing in natural thermal spas. During the summer months, the most visited attraction for tourists is Mamaia and other Black Sea Resorts which are perfect for swimming and birdwatching.

The travel and tourism industry in Romania is estimated to be the fourth-fastest growing in the world. The trend of tourist activities in the country shows that the number of tourists visiting the country has steadily been on the rise. In 2016, about 9.33 million tourists visited the country. In the first quarter of 2018, about 3.12 million tourists visited the country.

Avoid taking photographs of airports and military bases without seeking permission from the appropriate authorities.

Citizens of countries that require a Romanian visa can gain entry into the country with a Schengen visa. Nationals of Andorra, Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela can gain visa-free entry for a period of 90 days in a 180-day period.

Romania Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

A tourist visa allows Ghanaians to travel to Romania for tourism or family visit.
A valid passport is required for all overseas/non-EU visitors to Romania.
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your visit. (i.e., it will not expire sooner than your intended date of departure).
You are advised to check the expiration date on your passport carefully before traveling.
Some airlines (i.e. Lufthansa) may refuse boarding at your point of origin or while transferring planes if your passport is not valid for at least three months beyond your intended date of departure.
It is now therefore recommended that your passport has at least six months' validity remaining before you set out to Romania.
After your application, in most cases, you will be informed within 15 calendar days whether your application has been successful.
Sometimes it can take up to 30 days if more time is needed, and up to 60 days in exceptional cases, for example if extra documents are required.
For stays longer than 90 days, visitors need to need to apply for a temporary residence permit (either before arriving into Romania or at least 30 days before the 90-day stay expires).
Depending on your citizenship, you may be required to show different documents at the port-of-entry.
The actual duration of stay for this visa is not more than 90 (ninety) days, accumulated during a single visit - or multiple visits - within a six-month period.

Romania Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

This visa is issued to Ghanaians traveling to Romania for business purposes.
It is highly recommended that visa applications be lodged at least 2 weeks before the estimated date of departure and not more than 3 month before that date.
The date of taking a decision upon a visa application is dependent on the date when the visa applicant presents oneself at the diplomatic mission/consulate of Romania.
Romania accepts online visa applications.
In order to be able to apply online you must:

have a valid e-mail address.
have a computer which fulfills certain technical requirements.
have the possibility of uploading the required supporting documents.

If you wish to print or save a copy of your application you must have access to Acrobat Reader or other similar .pdf readers.
It is advisable that your supporting documents be translated into Romanian or English by an authorized translator.
All documents you submit must be legible. All attached documents must be presented in original and copy when you visit the Romanian diplomatic mission / consular post.

Each document must not exceed 2 Megabytes (2 MB).
Only Latin characters are allowed in the filename.
Files in the following formats are accepted: jpeg, jpg, tif, png, bmp, txt, rtf or pdf.

Business visa applicants must provide:

An original passport [current and previous if applicable].
2 recent colour photos 3 cm x 4 cm, on a white background.
Last 3 month’s salary financial statements.
Employment reference letter and pay slips.
Income Tax Returns or Form 16 A.
Flight reservation and hotel booking
Medical insurance valid in Romania, covering one day longer beyond the intended period of stay and of a value not less than 50,000 EUR (original and copy).

You may also be required to provide a short letter mentioning the purpose of your travel and approximate date of arrival and departure.
Be ready to prove that you are capable of spending at least 100 USD per day for your entire stay in Romania.
