Application requirements

Tourist visa

  • Indians traveling to Algeria for tourism and purposes can apply for an Algerian tourist visa.
  • There are types of Algerian tourist visa:
    • Single-entry visa: this visa is valid for 30 days.
    • Multiple-entry visa: this visa is valid for 90 days in a period of six months.
  • An invitation letter issued by the Algerian host or an Algerian travel agency must be provided by the applicant.
  • A copy of your host’s ID, passport or consular card (if applicable) must be provided.
  • Proof of employment status is required. This must come in form of a letter from your employer, company documents, if self-employed, etc.
  • Applicants are required to provide proof of financial means. This must come in the form of bank statements or payslips.
  • In cases of visa applications for minors, include a letter of consent from the parent/s or legal guardian/s, stating they agree for the child to travel alone.
  • Proof of accommodation in Algeria, such as a hotel reservation must be provided.
  • Travelers must declare at Customs if they are traveling with more than 3000 Algerian dinar or foreign currency that exceeds 1000 euros.
  • Travelers are prohibited from taking Algerian dinars out of the country.
  • Visitors are advised to always carry their passport, or a copy of it, with them. Failure to do so will result to the visitor being taken in for questioning by law enforcement officials.
  • Photographing military installations and government buildings (often marked by an Algerian flag over the entrance) is prohibited.

  • Indians traveling to Algeria for business purposes are required to apply for the Algerian business visa
  • The Algerian business visa is issued on both single-entry and multiple-entry.
  • Business travelers must contact the Ministry of the Interior, Foreigners Office, before engaging in any travel within the interior of the country. The Ministry will notify local police of the planned travel and the police may choose to assign escorts for that travel.
  • Applicants must provide a letter and it must include the following:
    • The full name, address and contact details of the host company.
    • Specify the purpose and duration of stay.
    • Include an acceptance of financial responsibility for the applicant.
    • Be signed by the applicant's host company.
    • Be issued within the last three months.
  • Travelers must provide return tickets. The return tickets can be obtained without paying the actual amount from an authentic travel agency. This is to ensure that you will return to your country after your work is done.
  • It is compulsory to attach a letter of sponsorship from your employer stating that you are traveling to Algeria as a part of your business.
  • Bank statements for the last 6 months are among the most important documents to get your visa approved. It shows that you are financially capable to make the trip.
  • You need to submit the original invitation from the Algerian company that you’re planning to visit. Note that it must be duly attested by the Algerian chamber of commerce.
