Basic Travel Requirements for Indians visiting Iceland

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Icelander Visa.

  • An Indian passport not older than 7 years, with at least six months validity beyond the date you plan to leave Iceland.
  • A passport size photograph (45 X 35 mm) with a white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support.
  • Proof of accommodation. E.g hotel reservations.
  • Documentation showing applicants ties to home country, e.g. Marriage certificate, birth certificate etc.
  • Travel medical Insurance with a coverage of at least 30,000 Euros.
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.

Iceland Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Nigerians looking to visit Iceland for recreation, relaxation and sightseeing purposes can apply for the Icelandic tourist visa.
  • The Iceland tourist visa is also a Schengen 'Type C' visa and it is valid for 90 days.

  • With the Icelandic tourist visa, Nigerians can study for three months. 
  • Travelers are required to provide travel health insurance confirmation of minimum 30,000 € coverage within Iceland and the entire Schengen area.
  • Proof of sufficient financial means for entire period of stay in Iceland must be provided.
  • Foreigners must attest owning an amount of subsistence of 28 € per day to the Icelandic Embassy or Consulate. While, the amount of money required for each entry to the territory of Iceland is 144 €.

  • The Iceland business visa allows business travelers to engage in business activities of their choice in the country.
  • Business travelers can meet up with partners to negotiate and sign business contracts.
  • Businessmen and businesswomen can attend trade fairs, conferences, and business summits during their time in the country.
  • An invitation letter from the company you are meeting up with should be provided. The letter should have the company’s address, the duration of your visit, as well as the purpose of your visit to the country.
  • Regarding the applicant’s expenses during stay in the Schengen zone, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter or invitation

Iceland Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Iceland student visa enables Indians to visit Iceland to study in one of the institutions in the country.
  • You must ensure you have been accepted into one of the institutions of your choice in the country before applying for visa.
  • Students will need to apply for a residence permit before arriving in Iceland which can be done by contacting the Directorate of Immigration in Iceland or by notifying the nearest Icelandic embassy.
  • All students are required to apply for a Kennitala – an Icelandic ID/social security number - which is used for every day matters, such as opening a bank account.
  • Letter of acceptance from the institution in Iceland is required. This is proof that you can attend lectures and write exams at school.
  •  If you are given a scholarship, you must provide the letter of sponsorship from the body that awarded the scholarship to you.
  • Students are required to provide medical insurance details. 
  • Proof of financial support in the form of bank statements must be provided. 
  • Student visas in Iceland are flexible enough to allow students to apply for a work permit while they are engaged in their studies. Students are allowed to work 20 working hours per week.
