Basic Travel Requirements for Indians visiting Mexico

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Mexican Visa.


  • An Indian passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Three passport-size photographs (4.5 x 3.5 cm) taken in white background.
  • Travel document must be complete.
  • Proof of financial capability.
  • Proof of accommodation/hotel reservations.
  • Copy of return flight ticket.
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country.
  • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.
  • Medical insurance to cover entire duration of stay.
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.

Mexico is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. The country is known for its beaches, culture and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are a plethora of beaches in the country with the most popular being the resort town of Cancun. University students during their spring break make the resort their top destination during this period. It has been estimated that the number is going to increase at a rate of about 4.2 million per year.
 
Foreigners visiting Mexico will not be allowed entry into or exit from Mexico with more than $10,000 or its equivalent in any currency. Punishment for drug-related crimes are very severe and those who are caught engaging in any of these offenses will be jailed for a long period of time.
