Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Mongolian Visa.

  • Indian passport valid for at least six months from the intended travel date to Mongolia and blank pages for visa stamping.

Mongolia is a prime tourist destination because of its national museum which displays historic and ethnographic artifacts. The Yolyn Am, a deep gorge with ice; and the Flaming Cliffs, orange bluffs where dinosaur fossils are found. National parks and lakes are top sites for tourists as there are a lot of activities on offer for tourists to take part in.
 
Every year, since the last decade, an average of 350,000 foreigners visit Mongolia yearly. In a bid to increase the number of foreign visitors to Mongolia, the government offered special tax exemption of up to 10% of the total investment offered for construction of highly rated hotels. Licenses for tourism business was nullified are tour operators are now not required to pay VAT.
 
Do not buy, sell, kill or capture any protected wild animal or trade its parts without a license. Anyone caught would receive lengthy prison sentences and a fine. Be aware of the local customs and avoid wearing short sleeves, this can be seen as offensive.
 
Nationals of United States, Brazil, Georgia, Serbia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine can visit Mongolia for up to 90 days without a visa. Citizens of Canada, Cuba, Germany, Israel, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, and Russia are allowed to visit the country without a visa for up to 30 days.

Mongolia Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Mongolia tourist visa is issued to Indians traveling to Mongolia for tourism and visitation purposes.
  • This visa is valid for 30 days but can be extended for an additional 30 days.
  • The extension can be done at the Immigration Agency of Mongolia but it has to be at least four days before your current visa expires.
  • Applicants are expected to have an accommodation reservation valid through their stay in Mongolia.
  • If you have a host, the host is required to send you an invitation letter. This letter should contain the relationship between you and your host and the act details of your host.
  • Flight return ticket to India is required as proof that you intend to return to India when your visa expires.
  • Ensure that you have sufficient funds for your trip as this visa does not allow its holder to work in Mongolia.
  • Studying, regardless of the length of the course, is prohibited on this visa.
  • A detailed flight itinerary showing all the places to be visited during the trip is necessary. It might also be required if you are applying for an extension.
  • For stays of more than 30 days, you must register with Mongolian Immigration within seven days of arrival.
  • Failure to register will result in a fine of $100-$300, even if you extend your stay due to circumstances beyond your control.
  • Mongolian customs authorities strictly enforce laws regulating the import and export of firearms, ammunition, precious metals, and antiquities.
  • Importation of firearms or ammunition requires prior government approval. All precious metals should be declared on arrival. 

Mongolia Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The business visa is issued to Indians traveling to Mongolia for business purposes.
  • This visa can be used to attend conferences, seminars, negotiate and sign contracts and purchase business materials.
  • Individuals attending a conference are to provide proof of pre-registration for the conference.
  • Business travelers are required to have a sponsor. If you do not have a sponsor, a recent bank statement showing sufficient funds for the trip is required.
  • The inviting company in Mongolia is required to send an invitation letter to the applicant. The company must be a registered one and the letter should state the details of the business transaction to be carried out.
  • The company is also required to apply for approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to your arrival. Only after the approval has been granted would the visa be issued.
  • Mongolia issues visas for single, double and multiple entries.
  • The single-entry allows the individual to enter and exit Mongolia just once, double-entry allows twice and multiple-entry allows numerous entries and exits for the validity duration of the visa.
  • If your trip would be extended for over3 0 days, you must register with the Immigration Agency of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar or its local branches within 7 business days after arriving in Mongolia.

Is tipping allowed in Mongolia?

Yes. Visitors are allowed to tip guides, drivers, waiters after their serice. A tip of $10-$20 is a just sufficient amount although tipping is widely known in only western restaurants in the country.
