General Requirements for Portugal Visa
- Valid travel insurance which has a coverage of €30,000 for medical insurance.
Portugal Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Portuguese tourist visa can be issued to Indians with the intention of traveling to Portugal for tourism and visitation purposes.
- Portugal is a Schengen country so you can apply for a Schengen visa.
- This visa is valid for 90 days in a period of 180 days.
- Currency restriction for entry into and exit out of Portugal is 10,000 Euros.
- If you are not staying in a hotel or a similar tourist accommodation, you are required to register with the Portuguese Immigration Service (SEF) within three working days of entering Portugal.
- You are required to document your entry to prove your length of stay.
- Failure to comply with these requirements will result in an administrative offense punishable with a fine from €60 to €160.
- Foreign minors under 18 years of age entering or exiting Portugal must possess an authorization letter of parental consent to travel.
- A letter of parental consent must be provided. This letter must include the dates and reason for travel and the details of an adult who will be responsible for the child.
- A Schengen travel Insurance confirmation of minimum 30,000 € coverage within Portugal and the entire Schengen area must be provided.
- A cover letter stating the purpose of visit to Portugal and itinerary is required.
- A flight Itinerary with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Portugal must be provided.
- Hotel booking reservation for the whole duration of the intended stay in Portugal must be provided by the applicant.
- Applicants must provide proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable)
- Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay in Portugal must be provided. This should come in form of a bank statement.
Portugal Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- attend trade fairs, conferences, and business summits while you are in the country.
- If there were previous trade relations between the two companies, proof of such events must be provided
- A business bank statement of the latest 6 months must also be provided.
- Memorandum and Article of Association in original certified copy (registered with joint-stock companies) Trade License (first issued and present renewal), Proprietorship/Partnership documents are to be provided.
- Regarding the applicant’s expenses during stay in the Schengen zone, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter or invitation.
Portugal Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Indians looking to study in Portugal should apply for the Portuguese student visa.
- There are two types of Portuguese student visa:
- Schengen short-stay visa: this visa is for students studying for less than 90 days
- Long-stay visa: this visa is for students studying for more than 90 days.
- Higher education area adopted a system based on three cycles of study, at bachelor, master and doctorate's level, that is:
- 1st cycle of study lasting three or four years to attain a bachelor's degree, in Portugal called a licenciatura.
- 2nd cycle of study lasting one or two years to attain a master's degree, in Portugal called a mestrado.
- 3rd cycle of study lasting three years to attain a doctorate, in Portugal called adoutoramento.
- Confirmed accommodation from the inviting institution if on campus or confirmed hotel reservations, stating name, address and telephone number of the hotel, including confirmation number must be provided.
- A No Criminal Record Certificate must be provided by the applicant.
- Copy of travel itinerary with acceptance letter or confirmed reservation is required.
- Applicants are required to provide a valid travel ticket or other proof of departure arrangements.
- Proof of sufficient financial means to support themselves throughout the stay should be provided.
- Proof of health insurance coverage of minimum of 30,000 euros must be provided.
