Taiwan Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Indonesians traveling to Taiwan for tourism purposes are required to apply for a Taiwan tourist visa.
- There are two types of Taiwan tourist visa:
- Single entry: this visa is valid for 90 days and it costs NT$1,600.
- Multiple-entry: this visa is valid for more than 90 days and it costs NT$3,200.
- Indonesians can apply for a no-fee Travel Authorization Certificate online for multiple visits to Taiwan, for a duration of no more than 14 days each visit during the certificate's 90-day validity period.
- Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends travelers to Taiwan be vaccinated against Hepatitis A.
- Foreigners are required to declare cash amounts over 100,000 New Taiwan Dollars (TWD), foreign currencies over 10,000 USD, or over 20,000 Chinese Yuan (RMB).
- Penalties for possession, use, sale, or transport of illegal drugs—including marijuana—are severe, with long jail sentences and heavy fines.
- Taiwan also has the death penalty for certain violent crimes and drug offenses.
- To detect and prevent the spread of diseases, Taiwan scans the body temperature of all arriving passengers with an infrared thermal apparatus.
- Before traveling to Taiwan, it is advised that you learn a little Mandarin to avoid the language barrier.
- Taiwan has strict regulations on importing/exporting firearms, other weapons, drugs, antiquities, currency, ivory & other animal products, fruits & plants, and many other items.
- Be especially careful about medications. Always carry your prescription. Note that only limited quantities of medicines are permitted.
Taiwan Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
Indonesians intending to travel to Taiwan for business purposes are eligible for the Taiwan business visa.
There are two types of Taiwan business visa:
- Single-entry visa: this visa is valid for 90 days and it costs NT$1,600.
- Multiple-entry visa: this visa is valid for more than 90 days and it costs NT$3,200.
A signed letter of invitation (this must include a copy of the inviter’s ARC or ID – front and back. Expired ARCs will not be accepted).
If you are not expected by the inviter in Taiwan and are traveling for Tourism purposes, please attach the confirmed hotel/guesthouse booking and use fill in their details on the “Reference in Taiwan” section on the application form.
A letter from your company stating that they will cover all costs in addition to your bank statements if the company will be responsible for sponsoring the trip.
Your personal and your company's income tax return for the last three years is required.
It is important that applicants bring original salary slip from the last six months with signature and company seal intact.

Taiwan Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Indonesians traveling to Taiwan for education purposes can apply for the Taiwan student visa.
- Before initiating the visa application process, applicants should ensure they have been accepted into the institution of their choice.
- Students with short-study visas are allowed to study in Taiwan for 180 days.
- Students with long-study visas are allowed to study in Taiwan for more than 6 months. However, they are required to apply for an ARC (Alien Residence Certificate).
- Before applying for a residence permit, students will go through a medical exam where their examining doctor fills out a Health Certificate Application.
- After that, the student is required to fill a PCC (Police Clearance Certificate).
- The residence permit fee costs RM279 ( for3 working days) or RM419 ( if you want to collect the permit on the same day/next day).
- A letter of admission written on the institution’s letterhead and signed by the head of the institution is required. The letter should have the course the applicant has been offered and the duration of the study.
- Students must show proof of financial stability. Students need to have at least 1,200 NT$ monthly.
- Indonesians in Taiwan for study can work for about 20 hours when school is in session and full-time when the school has gone on break.

What can I not bring to Taiwan?
Passengers are strictly restricted from carrying the following products into Taiwan: Fresh fruits, melons, cucumbers, gourds, etc. Marine products, regardless of live, refrigerated, frozen, salted or seasoned, subject to confiscation. Unauthorized live animals and plants, and their products including meats and seeds.
How much money can I bring to Taiwan?
According to the new Money Laundering Act, passengers are only allowed to carry cash not more than Taiwan currency not exceeding NT$100,000, Chinese currency not more than RMB20,000 and foreign currency equivalent to US$10,000. Any amount exceeding must be declared at the airport customs to avoid confiscation.
Can I use my credit card in Taiwan?
Credit cards are widely accepted in shops, and most vendors will only accept cash. Payment types that can easily be used in Taiwan include Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay, Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express (less common), and Unionpay
What should I wear in Taiwan?
Bring winter clothing like long sleeve shirts, long pants, sweatshirts, warm jackets, and socks. No need for summer clothing even if you go down to the coast where you'll still need to wear long-sleeve shirts and pants.
