What currency is spent in Tunisia?
The official currency in Tunisia is the Tunisian Dinar. It is not so common to find places that accept other currencies, such as the US Dollars, Pounds and Euros, so you should not count on it. You may, however, be able to make payments with Visa or Mastercard credit and debit cards.
How long can I stay in Tunisia?
The short-stay visa permits its holder a stay of not more than 3 months while the long-stay visa permits a stay of up to 6 months. If you intend to stay more than 6 months or work in Tunisia, you need to obtain a residence permit.
What language is spoken in Tunisia?
The official language in Tunisia is Arabic but French is also widely spoken. You may not find a lot of English speakers in Tunisia. Also, while the dialect of Arabic spoken in Tunisia (called Tunsi) may be incomprehensible to speakers of Arabic, almost all Tunisians can understand and speak the standard Arabic. If you speak French well, though, you should have no difficulty communicating in Tunisia.
Is Tunisia safe to visit?
Visitors in Tunisia are advised to be very cautious as security forces remain on high alert in the capital city, Tunis, and other places in the country because of the likely threat of terrorist attacks. The Tunisian government has, however, improved protective security in major cities and tourist resorts.
