Bulgaria visa requirements for Kenyans

Applicants of this Visa are business-oriented travelers who intend to engage in business activities in Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian visa is of two types:

A Kenyan may obtain a Bulgarian Business visa on the ground of registering a limited company, branch or trade representative office in Bulgaria.

The short-stay Bulgarian Business visa is a multi-entry visa allowing a stay of 90 days in Bulgaria.

There are 3 primary instances for which a long-term Bulgarian Business visa (Type D visa) is issued:

The most convenient and affordable way for a foreign national to obtain a “Type D” Bulgarian Business visa, and eventually a Bulgarian residence permit is by way of registering a trade representative office in Bulgaria.

The processing time for the business visa is 10 days. 

The validity of the Bulgarian business visa is 90 days.

Business travelers can negotiate and sign business contracts with their partner company during their time in the country.

Kenyans visiting Bulgaria with this visa are allowed to attend conferences, trade fairs, and business summits.

Letter from the applicant’s employer written on company’s letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s position in the company and clearly stating the purpose of visit to Bulgaria.

A letter of invitation from the company in Bulgaria is required. The duration of your trip and the purpose of the visit should be stated.

Certificate of business registration of the company in Bulgaria is required.

If the company in Bulgaria is going to be responsible for your finances in the country, it should be clearly stated in the letter of invitation.

Proof of previous business dealings with the company should be provided if any.

Receipt of payment of visa application fee should be provided.

Kenyans should have proof that they have the incentive of returning to their country at the expiry of their visa.

Applicants of these visa are advised to be vaccinated against yellow fever before applying.

The eligible applicants of these visa are students who intend to study full-time in one of the institutions of learning in the country.

Students should ensure that they have been offered admission into the institution of their choice in Bulgaria before processing this visa.

The Bulgarian Student Visa  (D-type Visa) is valid from 3 to 6 months.

The student visa can be obtained from any Bulgarian Diplomatic Mission abroad. All non-EU/EEA students aiming to study in Bulgaria must secure this visa.

Applicants are to submit their international passport that has a minimum validity of one year from intended date of departure.

Applicants are to provide proof of medical insurance valid for the EU member states for the whole period of the trip, covering all costs for repatriation,urgent medical care and emergency hospital treatment for the period of the stay in Bulgaria.

The applicant with a Bulgarian student visa must apply for a long-term stay (residency permit) in Bulgaria on arrival .

This permit is usually valid for one year maximum and renewable every year for the whole period of the study.

Proof of financial sufficiency that covers duration of stay should be submitted.

Proof of payment of tuition fee.

A letter of acceptance from the institution in Bulgaria should be provided. The course applicant will be offering and the duration of the study program should be clearly stated in the letter.

International students are allowed to work part-time when during the session and full-time during breaks.

Students who are under the age of 18 years are required to present the unabridged original copy of their birth certificate.

For non-Kenyans, a copy of their stay permit in Kenya is required.

Certificates and transcripts from previously attended should be provided.

A document which proves that you have the incentive to return to your country at the end of your study.

Proof of payment of paid visa application fee is required.

This visa is for Kenyans who intend to take up paid employment in Bulgaria.

Applicants of this visa should confirm that they have been offered a job in Bulgaria before initiating the visa application process.

Employed applicants are to posses a  work permit  cleared by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

Employees with above 10%  foreign workers, are not allowed to employ more foreigners .

The Bulgarian work visa has a validity period of more than 90 days.

The Bulgarian work visa is a multiple entry visa.

 Applicants whose qualifications do not match the requirements of the job being offered, will not be offered employment and will be denied entry. 

A letter from your future employer in Bulgaria should be provided. The company’s address and your proposed job description should be clearly stated in the letter.

The certificate of business registration of the company you will be working for should be provided.

Proof that you will not be paid below the minimum wage by your employer should be provided.

A document that shows that the applicant has the incentive to return to his/her country should be made available during the visa application process.

If you are minor traveling without your parents or traveling with one of your parents, a notarized consent signed by both parents is required.
