Basic Travel Requirements for Kenyans visiting Greece

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Greek Visa.

  • Kenyan passport which will be valid 6 months after exiting from the country. The passport must contain two blank pages.
  • Duly completed visa application form. The form should carry the necessary signatures and stamps.
  • Two passport-sized photographs taken with a white background which follows the visa application specification.
  • The photograph must be at least 3 months old from the time of application.
  • Original bank statement for the last three months prior to the date of application for the visa. Salary payslips may be used in place of the bank statement.
  • A copy of the applicants  travel itinerary should be submitted.
  • Valid travel insurance which has a coverage of €30,000 for medical insurance.
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of your stay in the country.
  • Return flight ticket.

It is illegal to smoke in all indoor public places. Hefty fines will be handed out to those caught violating this law. Pepper-spray canisters are illegal in Greece and will be confiscated by the authorities.

Greece Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is for Kenyans traveling to Greece with the intention of relaxing, sightseeing, and engaging in recreational activities.
  • Kenyans who also want to visit relatives and friends in the country can do so using this visa.
  • Those who have a host in Greece are required to present a letter of invitation from their host. The home address and telephone number of the host should be included in the letter.
  • All travelers with tourist visa are not allowed to enroll in any of the schools in the country.
  • Holders of this visa can attend events and festivals if they so wish.
  • You are required to have a letter from your employer in Kenya stating awareness of leave. The duration of your leave should be stated in the letter.
  • Non-Kenyans should provide a copy of their Kenyan stay permit.
  • Original copy of minors’ birth certificate is required. If they are not traveling with their parents, a letter of consent signed by both parents should be provided.
  • A document that shows that you have the incentive of returning to Kenya is required.
  • Proof of paid visa application fees is required.
  • Paid or unpaid employment in the country for foreigners is strictly prohibited.
  • During your time in the country, you are not allowed to seek public funds.

Greece Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans who apply for the business visa have the intention of partaking in business activities in the country.
  • You are allowed to meet up with partners for meetings and to negotiate and sign business contracts.
  • Holders of this visa can attend trade fairs and conferences during their time in the country.
  • An invitation letter from your partner company in Greece should be provided. The company’s address, the purpose of your visit and the duration of your visit should be clearly stated in the letter.
  • If the Greek company is going to take care of your expenses during your time in the country, it should be stated in the letter.
  • A letter from your employer in Kenya stating awareness and allowance of your business travel for the duration of your stay in Greece.
  • Proof of previous dealings with the company should be provided if any.
  • Certificate of business registration of your business partner in Greece is required.
  • With this visa, you cannot take up paid employment in the country.
  • This visa does not allow foreigners to seek public funds in the country.
  • Non-Kenyans should ensure they have a copy of their stay permit.
  • Proof of paid visa application fee is required.
  • Kenyans are expected to exit the country at the expiry of their visa.

Greece Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans who intend applying for the medical visa seek medical attention in Greece.
  • Your local physician should issue a referral which indicates your diagnosis. In this document, the reason you cannot be treated in Kenya should be stated.
  • A medical attestation from the hospital or doctor in Greece, confirming the date of appointment as well as your medical situation is required.
  • A letter of employment from your employer in Kenya including information on leave of absence must be submitted.
  • Proof that medical fees have been paid is required. This may be in form of receipt or pay slips that indicate payment to the hospital in Greece.
  • Minors must ensure they possess the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are traveling alone or with one of their parents, a document of consent which is signed by both parents of the minor should be provided.

Greece Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyans eligible for the student visa are those have the intention of studying in one of the institutions in Greece.
  • Before applying for this visa, ensure that you have been accepted into the school of your choice in Greece.
  • A letter of admission written with the school’s letterhead should be submitted during the visa application process.
  • Certificates and transcripts from previously attended schools should be provided.
  • A copy of your stay permit in Kenya should be provided if you are not a citizen of Kenya.
  • While studying in Greece, you are allowed to be employed part-time as long as it does not interfere with your education.
  • The visa may be extended to cover the length of your study.
  • If you are a minor traveling without your parent, a letter of consent signed by both parents should be provided. An unabridged original copy of your birth certificate is  also required.
  • You will be punished if you are caught seeking public funds.
  • Receipt of paid visa application form is required.
  • The visa costs €75.

Greece Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is appropriate for short stop-overs in Greece.
  • The stop-over may include transiting from the country to your destination country.
  • Flight ticket and visa of your destination country should be submitted during the visa application process.
  • If you are under the age of 18 years, the unabridged original copy of your birth certificate should be provided.
  • Foreigners who have been previously convicted may not be issued this visa.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
  • Holders of this visa are neither allowed to work nor study during their time in the country.
  • Proof that you have the incentive to return to your country after your visa has expired.
  • The visa is valid for 5 days.
  • You are required to exit the country before the expiry of your visa.
  • This visa cannot be extended.

Greece Official Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Kenyan diplomats who apply for this visa intend to foster the relationship between the government of Kenya and Greece.
  • A diplomatic note from the Kenyan government is required. The note should contain your status in government, as well as the duration, and purpose of your visit to the country.
  • An original invitation letter from the Greek government should be provided.
  • The main applicants of the official visa are Heads of States, Consular officers, ministers, and African Union representatives.
  • As a diplomat, if the purpose of your visit to the country is non-official you are not entitled to this visa. Only Heads of States can visit the country for whatever purpose with the official visa.
  • If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate should be presented during the visa application process.
  • Diplomats may attend conferences and meetings while are in the country.
  • Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up a course of study or be paid for services they render in the country.
  • Diplomats are required to present a valid means of identification.
