Basic Travel Requirements for Kenyans visiting Hungary

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Hungarian Visa.

  • Kenyan passport valid for at least three months after the date of exit from the country. The passport must have at least two blank pages.
  • Duly completed visa application form signed by the applicant.
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs taken with a white background. The passport should follow the photo specification of a visa application.
  • Bank statement from the last three months prior to the period of visa application. This serves as proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of your stay in the country.
  • Valid travel insurance which has a coverage of €30,000 for medical insurance.
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of your stay in the country.

Hungary Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The tourist visa is for Kenyans traveling to Hungary to engage in tourist activities.
  • These tourist activities include sightseeing, recreation, and relaxation.
  • Kenyans who have friends and relatives in Hungary may apply for this visa if they intend to visit these people.
  • Those visiting someone in the country require a letter of invitation from their host. In the letter, the home address, telephone number, and a valid means of identification of the host should be clearly stated.
  • Whilst in the country on a tourist visa, you are not allowed to be enroll in any of the institutions in the country.
  • If there are events and festivals that you are willing to attend in the country, you are free to do so.
  • If the applicant is employed, a letter from your employer should be provided. The letter should state awareness and allowance of your leave. Also, your employer should confirm continuation of  employment after the duration of the leave.
  • A copy of the Kenyan stay permit should be provided for non-Kenyans.
  • If you are under the age of 18, you are required to have the original copy of your birth certificate. If you are not traveling with your parents, a letter consent signed by both your parents should be provided.
  • Proof of the incentive to return to your country should be provided.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
  • During your time in the country, you are not allowed to seek employment.
  • Foreigners in Hungary are not permitted to seek public funds.

Hungary Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Business travelers are the main applicants of this visa.
  • With this visa, applicants can visit the country to engage in various business activities.
  • During your time in the country with your business partners, you can negotiate and sign business contracts, attend conferences, trade fairs, and business summits.
  • An invitation letter from the company you are meeting with should be provided. The letter should entail the company’s address, duration of your visit, as well as the purpose of your visit to the country.
  • The responsibility of applicants' expenses should be stated if it would be taken up by the employer or the partner company.
  •  A letter from your employer stating awareness and allowance of your business leave should be provided. The letter should include the duration and purpose of your visit to Hungary.
  • Proof of previous business dealings with the company should be provided if any.
  • The certificate of business registration of the company should be provided.

  • Diagnosis from your local doctor should be provided. It should be accompanied by a referral that states why the treatment cannot be gotten in Kenya.
  • A medical attestation from the hospital or doctor in Hungary, confirming the date of appointment as well as your medical status is required.
  • If you are employed, a letter from your employer stating that he/she is aware of your leave. 
  • Retirees should have a pension statement from the last 6 months.
  • Proof of payment of medical fees should be provided.

Hungary Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is for students who have been accepted to study in one of the institutions in the country.
  • Applicants should ensure they have been accepted into the institution of their choice before applying for this visa.
  • Letter of admission from the institution you have been accepted into is required. This is proof that you can attend lectures and write exams at  the school.
  • Certificates and transcripts of the schools you previously attended is a necessary document to be provided during the visa application.
  • If you are not a Kenyan, you are required to possess a copy of your stay permit in Kenya.
  • Foreign students are allowed to work part-time when school is in session and full-time when school is on break.
  • The duration of this visa can be extended to cover the duration of their study.
  • Underage Kenyans should have the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are not traveling with their parents, a letter of consent signed by both their parents should be provided.
  • You are not allowed to seek public funds while you are in the country.
  • Receipt of paid visa application form is required.
  • If you are not a citizen of Kenya, a copy of the stay permit in Kenya should be provided during the visa application process.

Hungary Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The transit visa allows Kenyans to stay in Hungary for a short period of time.
  • This visa also enables foreigners to transit through Hungary to their destination country.
  • Holders of this visa are required to possess the visa and flight ticket of their destination country.
  • If you are under the age of 18 years, the unabridged original copy of your birth certificate should be provided.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
  • You are not allowed to study or take up employment during your time in the country.
  • The visa is valid for 24 hours.
  • You are required to exit the country before the expiration of your visa.
  • This visa cannot be extended.

Hungary Official Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is for diplomats visiting the country for official purposes.
  • Diplomats visiting the country aim to improve the relationship between the governments of Kenya and Hungary.
  • A diplomatic note from the Kenyan government is required. The note should contain your position in government, duration, and purpose of your visit to the country.
  • An original invitation letter from the Hungarian government is required.
  • Applicants of this visa are Heads of State, Consular officers, ministers, and African Union representatives.
  • Asides Head of States, if your purpose of visiting the country is non-official, this visa will not be issued to you.
  • If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate should be presented during the visa application process.
