Spain Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Spanish tourist visa is granted to Kenyans who intend to visit Spain for tourism and sightseeing.
  • Spain is one of the world’s top tourist destinations and is used to welcoming millions of visitors from around the world every year. 
  • A visitor who wants to enter Spain as a tourist requires a short term visa. This short term visa is also known as Schengen (tourist) visa.
  • This visa is issued for a maximum duration of 90 days.
  • Here are some required documents for applicants:
    • Passport that is valid for at least six months after the intended date of travel and three months after scheduled return from travel; with previous passport and two full blank pages to affix the visa
    • Three colored copies of the data page of the passport.
    • Two 3.5cm x 4.5cm coloured passport photographs that is not more than 1 month old and with a white background
    • Pay slips for the past six months.
    • Personal statement of account for the past six months and that of your company, if you are being sponsored.
    • General income generated by property, share certificates, bonds, and proof of ties to Kenya (marriage), if any.
    • Hotel Booking:  In the case where you have no one to invite you, you will need a valid hotel booking as proof of accommodation arrangement. 
    • You must show proof of having valid travel insurance with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
  • Here are some do's and don'ts while traveling to Spain:
    • Regionalism and religious topics are very sensitive for Spaniards, so be careful about certain discussions. 
    • Make sure you dress accordingly. If you are visiting a sacred place, a monastery or church make sure to dress accordingly to avoid any trouble. Spaniards always follow seasonal fashion rules.
    • Don’t try to buy anything between 2pm and 4pm. These are the established lunchtime or siesta hours, and apart from the biggest supermarkets and chains, all shops will close at these times. 
    • Do not rush or take punctuality too seriously. Spanish tend to have a very relaxed sense of time, so be patient and just enjoy being in Spain.
  • Spain is a relatively safe country, but travelers should be cautious of petty crimes.

Spain Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Spanish business visa are for Kenyans heading to Spain to conduct business with their Spanish business partners or clients.
  • The business visa for the Schengen Territory allows you to stay and travel within the Schengen Territory a maximum of 90 days per year.
  • Invitation Letters of Spanish companies must be addressed to the Consulate General of Spain in Kenya, they must be written in Spanish and must be sent to the applicant by Courier Service. Applicants must also to include an original Invitation Letter along with their applications. Photocopies and scans are not accepted.
  • In the invitation letter, the following must be included:
    • Reason behind the invitation.
    • The personal data of the guests. For example, name and surname, passport number, expedition and expiration dates.
    • The kind of trade relations between the partners.
  • Spain is a modern knowledge-based economy country, but doing business in Spain can be really complex.
  • If you are starting up a business in Spain, dealing with construction permit can be a challenge. It takes 182 days to get construction permits in Spain, with several certificates and inspections required as part of the process.
  • Paying taxes is also another challenge. It can be a time-exhaustive procedure.
  • Resolving business insolvency can take up to 1.5 years.
  • The Spanish company is expected to take charge of the welfare of the guests and of the immigration liabilities.
  • Proof of commercial relations with the inviting company must be provided. This proof must include; original Bills of Lading, custom clearance documents etc.

    • Certificate of Incorporation or Registration.

  • Most classes in Spain are taught in Spanish. However with the increasing number of international students entering schools in the country it is becoming much easier to find classes available in English as well. Even if you choose English classes, be prepared to learn Spanish anyway.
  • Students should have at least 300 Euros monthly to sustain themselves financially. 
  • Applicants looking to study for more than three months are eligible to apply for a residence permit.

Spain Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Confirmation of employment in the country is necessary before you initiate the visa application process.
  • Letter from your employer in the country confirming your employment should be provided.
  • The address of the company as well as your job description should be clearly stated in the letter.
  • Proof that you are not receiving below the minimum wage is required.
  • If the applicant of this visa is not a Kenyan citizen, a copy of his/her Kenyan stay permit is required.
  • You are required to apply for a work permit.

  • At the expiry of your visa, you are required to leave the country.

  • Foreigners who have been previously convicted may not be issued this visa.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
  • You are not allowed to study or take up paid or unpaid employment during your time in the country.
  • The documents submitted by applicants should be in either English or Spanish.
  • The visa is valid for 5 days.
  • You are required to exit the country before the expiry of your visa.
  • This visa cannot be extended.
