Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Japanese Visa.

Japan Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Laotians visiting Japan can apply for a tourist visa. This is a short-term visa that allows foreigners to visit Japan for sightseeing, tourism, visiting friends and relatives.
- A valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank visa pages is required to visit Japan.

- Proof of admission from the school in Japan is needed.
- A flight itinerary or proof of flight reservation.
- A recently taken passport photo.
- Diploma certificate, high school transcripts or a graduating transcript that shows academic accomplishments.
- A recent bank statement showing your ability to pay for your expenses for your first year in Japan is required. It is recommended that applicants have up to ¥2,000,000 in their bank account.
- Evidence of payment for accommodation and tuition is required.
- Sponsored applicants are required to bring their sponsor's recent bank statement to show proof of sufficient funds to cover their study year or first study year in Japan.
- They are also expected to bring a signed letter from their sponsors, stating their intention to sponsor applicant's education and other expenses throughout the duration of studies in Japan.
- A copy of the sponsor's passport and birth certificate should also be provided.
Japan Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Japan transit visa is usually issued to travelers proceeding to another country through Japan.
- A valid passport properly signed by the bearer and a passport photo attached to the Japan transit visa application form is required.
- Flight itinerary issued by the travel agency or airline company.
- Visa to the next destination country must be attached to the passport at the time of application.
- Applicants are to show proof of sufficient funds or letter of guarantee from a friend or relative in Japan if the stay period exceeds 24 hours.
- Laotians visiting Japan on transit visa are not allowed to tour as activities such as sightseeing and leisure are limited.
