Application requirements
Documents Libyan applicants need to provide.
- One Swedish visa application form that is completely filled and signed by the applicant.
- 2 passport photographs taken against a light background.
- A Libya passport that is valid for at least three months after the date of exit from Sweden.
- The passport must contain blank pages for Sweden's visa stamp.
- One passport photo must be glued to the application form. Applications with stapled photographs will be rejected.
- A cover letter explaining the purpose of the visit to Sweden.
- Round trip flight/ travel reservations or other proof of intended transport and complete itinerary of the visit to Sweden.
- Medical insurance stating that that the applicant is covered in case of a medical emergency and repatriation in Sweden.
- Proof of accommodation in Sweden which could be hotel booking or invitation from the Swedish host with a copy of their passport.
- The required fee for the visa application is 60 euros.
- Proof of sufficient funds such as a recent statement of the applicant’s bank accounts for the last three months that shows 40 euros per day spent in Sweden.
- Photocopies of the original documents should also be submitted and documents should not be more than one month old.
- All documents provided should be legalized and be in either English or Swedish.
- Minors who are granted a Sweden visa are not allowed to travel to Sweden by themselves. They should be accompanied by an adult during their stay in Sweden.
- Minors are required to submit a birth certificate and a signed consent note from a parent or legal guardian.

Tourist visa
- Completely filled and signed Sweden visa application form.
- Two recent passport photos taken against a white background.
- A valid passport that is valid for at least three more months beyond the date applicant plans to leave Sweden.
- Round trip reservation indicating dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Sweden.
- A copy of medical insurance that is valid for the whole duration of stay in Sweden.
- Proof of accommodation such as copies of hotel reservation or letter of invitation from a host in Sweden.
- Travel Itinerary showing travel purpose, entry and exit date from Sweden.
- Minors are required to submit either birth certificate or proof of adoption.
- Minors are also required to submit a letter of consent from parents, including passport copies of both parents/ legal guardians.
- An invitation letter from either the host be it a family member, friend, or tour organization in Sweden is required.
- The letter should clearly state the relationship with the applicant, duration and purpose of stay in Sweden.
- Evidence that the applicant has enough money to support their selves financially throughout the stay in Sweden.
- The evidence could be can be a copy of the bank account statement, the statement shall be no older than 3 months.
- Applicants are required to provide a receipt showing proof that the visa application fee has been paid.
Business visa
- Visa application form be fully completed and signed by the applicant.
- Two recently taken photos must be attached to the application form.
- Both passport photographs must be taken within the last three months.
- A valid passport should be valid for at least three more months beyond the date you plan to leave Sweden.
- The travel itinerary must include dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Sweden.
- Travel or medical insurance for the whole duration of stay in Sweden, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros in case of any medical emergency as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death.
- Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of stay in Sweden.
- Bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds for the whole duration of stay is required. The statement shall be no older than 3 months.
- Proof of paid visa application fee.
- Cover letter explaining the purpose of the visit to Sweden showing details on a short profile of the applicants working place.
- Letter from employer describing the purpose of the travel as well as the itinerary of the days spends in Sweden.
- Invitation letter written by the host company in Sweden explaing the nature of the business to be conducted and the duration of the required stay.
- It must be stated either in the employer’s letter or the partner company’s invitation that one of both parties will be covering the applicant’s travel expenses during stay in Sweden.
- If there were previous trade relations between the two companies proof of such an event.
- For the self-employed applicants, a copy of your business license, company bank statement of the latest 6 months and income Tax Return (ITR) is required.
Student visa
- Sweden's student visa is issued to foreigners traveling for the purpose of studying in Sweden.
- Applicants are required to provide copies of previous passports and visas.
- Applicants are required to provide proof of residency in Libya if the applicant is not a citizen of Libya.
- Round trip reservation or itinerary specifying the dates and flight numbers of entry and exit from Sweden.
- Travel medical insurance issued by the health insurer in Libya confirming you have insurance for the whole duration of stay in Sweden.
- Proof of accommodation which could be a hotel reservation or a letter written by a resident in Sweden.
- Letter of acceptance at a Sweden University or college.
- Proof of academic qualifications such as diploma, academic records, attestation of the application for equivalence or decision/dispatch of equivalence.

- Applicants are required to provide proof of paid visa fees.
- Minors are required to provide a copy of their birth certificate, an identity document bearing the parents’ signature, a declaration of consent from both parents, stating that the minor can travel.
