Basic Travel Requirements for Malagasys visiting China
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Chinese Visa.
A Malagasy passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp. Duly completed and signed visa application form. The Chinese civil war resulted in a division of territory in 1949 when the communist party of China led by Mao Zedong established the people’s republic of China on mainland China. Also the Kuomintang led nationalist government retreated to the Island of Taiwan where it governed until 1996 when Taiwan changed to democracy.
China’s economy has been one of the world’s fastest-growing with its annual growth rates consistently above 6 per cent. According to the World bank China’s GDP grew from $150 billion in 1978 to $12.24 trillion in 2017. In 2018, its GDP increased to $13.5 trillion (90 trillion yuan). Since 2010, China has been the country with the world’s second-largest economy by nominal GDP and the largest economy in the world by purchasing power parity in 2014.
China is also the world’s largest exporter and second-largest importer of goods and also the home to some of the world’s largest tech giants such as Huawei, Baidu, Tencent and Alibaba as it is the world’s most technologically advanced nation. Since 2019, China has the highest number of rich people in the world.

China Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
The China tourist visa is for Malagasy travelling for tourism, vacation or leisure purposes. The tourist visa is also referred to as the Chinese L visa. The tourist visa can be issued either as a single, double or multiple entry visa. Bearers of this visa can attend events and take part in festivals during their time in China. Applicants visiting friends and relations are to submit a letter of invitation from their host. The letter should contain a detailed contact address of the host and a valid means of identification should be attached. The duration of stay per visit is at the discretion of the Chinese embassy. A letter from the applicant's employer stating his awareness of the applicant's visit should be submitted. Proof of financial sufficiency that covers the applicant's duration of stay should be submitted. If it is your first visit to China, only the single or double entry visa will be issued to you. Those who are applying for a multiple entry visa need to provide a copy of their previous visas to China. Applicants travelling with minors are to submit a copy of the minors' birth certificate alongside a letter of invitation from one or both parents. Proof of financial sufficiency that covers the applicant's duration of stay should be submitted. Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation should be submitted. An incentive that shows that the applicant will be willing to return to his home country at the expiration of this visa should be submitted. Receipt of paid visa application fee should be provided. During your time in the country, you are not allowed to take paid or unpaid employment. Medical certificate of fitness of the applicant should be submitted.
China Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
Malagasy travelling to China for business purposes are the applicants of the Chinese business visa. The Chinese business visa is also referred to as the Chinese M visa. Bearers of this visa can negotiate and sign contracts with their business partners while in china. The M visa is valid for 90 days and can be extended. The extension of visa stay varies with individual circumstances but it’s always granted at the discretion of the Chinese embassy. The Chinese business visa is issued as a single, double or multiple entry visa. Applicants are to submit a letter from the employer they would be representing on the business trip, stating their awareness and purpose of the applicant's visit to China. A letter of invitation from the partner company addressed to the Chinese embassy stating the nature of business to be conducted and duration should be submitted. Certificate of business registration of the Chinese company should be submitted. Proof of previous business dealings between both companies should be submitted. Receipt of paid Chinese visa application fee is required. Self-employed applicants or private business owners are to submit a copy of their certificate of business registration in Madagascar. Their Income Tax Return for the last six months should also be provided. Proof of financial sufficiency that covers the applicant's duration of stay should be submitted. Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation should be submitted. An incentive that shows that the applicant will be willing to return to Madagascar at the expiration of their visa should be submitted. Holders of the China Business Visa(s) are not allowed to be paid for the services they render while they are in the country.
China Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements
The Chinese work(Z visa) visa is issued to Malagasy who have been offered employment in China. Applicants should ensure that they have been gainfully employed before initiating this application process. Applicants should be in possession of a valid passport with a minimum validity of 12 months from the proposed date of travel. Bearers of this visa will require a work permit in order to be able to work in china. The Z visa is a single entry visa and its validity is at the discretion of the embassy. Holders of the Z visa should enter China within 90 days after the visa is issued and must register at a local public security bureau within 30 days of arrival. A resident permit will be issued to the holder by the bureau as a replacement for the Z visa. The resident permit unlike the Z visa allow for multiple entry into China for a duration of 1 year. The Chinese work visa is classified into three types namely the class A (high-level talents), Class B (professional personnel) and Class C (foreigners who are nontechnical or service workers hired on a temporary/seasonal basis). An official letter of invitation from your employer written on the company’s letterhead should be provided. The terms of your employment and the address of the company should be stated in the letter. Proof that the applicant will not be paid below the minimum wage is required. A proof that there was no Chinese qualified and willing to take up the job as ta when it was offered should be submitted. Original and a copy of employment permit issued by the Ministry of Labor and Employment of China. A medical report showing that the applicant is free from all forms of communicable diseases should be submitted. Proof of payment of the visa application fee should be submitted. The work visa is issued as a single entry visa.
China Official Visa Eligibility & Requirements
The Chinese official visa is issued to foreigners who intend visiting China for official purposes. Applicants must be in possession of a diplomatic passport before the official visa can be issued. The purpose of the visit must be clearly defined to be official. A letter from the Government of Madagascar stating the purpose and duration of the visit should be submitted. Applicants travelling with minors should submit the original birth certificate of the minor with a letter of consent from both parents Only the single-entry official visa will be issued to applicants.
