Mexico Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Mexican study visa is for citizens of Madagascar looking to study in one of the learning institutions in Mexico.
- There are two types of Mexican study visa:
- Visitor student visa - if the duration of your studies is less than 180 days, you will need a visitor student visa.
- Temporary resident student visa - if the duration of your studies is more than 180 days, you will need a temporary resident student visa.
- If the duration of your study is less than 180 days, you are only required to fill the Multiple Migratory Form (FMM) obtained on the airplane or at the port of entry.
- You'll be asked to provide the letter of acceptance from the educational institution to declare the purpose of your visit.
- Bank account statements to prove your economic solvency during your stay in Mexico must be provided. If you are under 25, then you can provide your parents’ bank account statements.
- If you have a scholarship, then you have to present the scholarship letter from the institution, mentioning the amount of the scholarship.
- Once your temporary resident student visa is approved, then, after arriving in Mexico, you must apply for a Temporary Resident Card at an immigration office in Mexico. You must apply for the card within 30 days from the date of your entry to Mexico.
- Students must provide a letterhead sheet in original from the Educational Institution (letter of acceptance) which must be addressed to the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego specifying the full name of the person concerned, level, degree and area of study that the applicant intends to carry out, the course name that has been accepted, total cost and period of studies.
- This letter must be signed by the Official Representative and identification data of the educational institution.
- Applicant must provide Original and copy of documents showing that the applicant has a job, pension or academic grant that yields a monthly income of $400.00 US dollars after taxes during the previous three months.
- Most Mexican study-abroad programs will require you to purchase International Student Insurance to cover you during your academic studies in Mexico.
- Medical statements showing good health and indicating that the applicant is free from any illness of public-health concern must be provided.
