Mexico Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Mexico tourist visa allows citizens of Madagascar to visit Mexico for tourism purposes.
  • The Mexico tourist visa is valid for six months for a single entry. The tourist visa can be extended for double or multiple entries under certain conditions.
  • Travelers are required to provide proof of financial ability so as to support themselves financially during their stay in Mexico. Mexico requires visitors to have USD 50 per day for staying in Mexico.
  • Currency restriction for entry into and exit out of Mexico is $10,000.
  • There is a US$300 tax exemption on items you import.
  • Travelers are required to provide a formal statement of their financial situation from their bank for the previous 6 months.

  • The phone number to report emergencies in Mexico is “911”: Although there may be English-speaking operators available, it is best to seek the assistance of a Spanish speaker to place the call.
  • Vessels entering Mexican waters with firearms or ammunition on board must have a permit previously issued by a Mexican embassy or consulate.
  • If you decide to pursue parenthood in Mexico via assisted reproductive technology (ART) with a gestational mother, be prepared for long and unexpected delays in documenting your child’s citizenship.
  • Make sure you understand Mexican law, which recognizes the gestational mother as the child’s legal parent with full parental rights and mandates that the gestational mother be listed on the Mexican state-issued birth certificate. 

Mexico Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Mexico business visa allows citizens of Madagascar visiting Mexico to engage in various business activities.
  • Malagasy on this visa can attend business meetings and conferences, sign and negotiate business contracts with partner companies while in the country.
  • Business travelers arriving by air will need to get cleared by Immigration and Customs at their first port of entry to Mexico.
  • Applicants of this visa who intend to attend business conferences in the country are advised to register for the conference before they leave Madagascar. The certificate of registration should be submitted with the other necessary documents required.
  • A letter of invitation written on the company’s letterhead should be provided. The letter should state the duration and purpose of your visit to Mexico.
  • A letter in Spanish from your company indicating that you are an employee and that the services you will provide in Mexico will be paid for by your company must be provided.
  • If the travel expenses of the applicant will not be covered by the company, this should be expressly stated in the letter.
  • The certificate of business registration of the inviting company in Mexico is required.

Mexico Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Mexican study visa is for citizens of Madagascar looking to study in one of the learning institutions in Mexico.
  • There are two types of Mexican study visa:
  • Visitor student visa - if the duration of your studies is less than 180 days, you will need a visitor student visa. 
  • Temporary resident student visa - if the duration of your studies is more than 180 days, you will need a temporary resident student visa.
  • If the duration of your study is less than 180 days, you are only required to fill the Multiple Migratory Form (FMM) obtained on the airplane or at the port of entry.
  • You'll be asked to provide the letter of acceptance from the educational institution to declare the purpose of your visit.
  • Bank account statements to prove your economic solvency during your stay in Mexico must be provided. If you are under 25, then you can provide your parents’ bank account statements.
  • If you have a scholarship, then you have to present the scholarship letter from the institution, mentioning the amount of the scholarship.
  • Once your temporary resident student visa is approved, then, after arriving in Mexico, you must apply for a Temporary Resident Card at an immigration office in Mexico. You must apply for the card within 30 days from the date of your entry to Mexico.
  • Students must provide a letterhead sheet in original from the Educational Institution (letter of acceptance) which must be addressed to the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego specifying the full name of the person concerned, level, degree and area of study that the applicant intends to carry out, the course name that has been accepted, total cost and period of studies. 
  • This letter must be signed by the Official Representative and identification data of the educational institution.
  • Applicant must provide Original and copy of documents showing that the applicant has a job, pension or academic grant that yields a monthly income of $400.00 US dollars after taxes during the previous three months.
  • Most Mexican study-abroad programs will require you to purchase International Student Insurance to cover you during your academic studies in Mexico.
  • Medical statements showing good health and indicating that the applicant is free from any illness of public-health concern must be provided.
