- Passport should have 2 blank visa pages for visa stamp.
- One completed visa application form.
- 1 recently-taken colour passport photo against a light background.
- Proof of legal stay or residence status in Malawi.
- An invitation letter to from host in China is required.
- Applicants are required to provide a copy of the return trip plane ticket for China.
- A copy of a Chinese hotel booking for the whole duration of your stay containing the full names of the applicant.
- Copy of travel itinerary showing entry and exit from Malawi.
- Bank statements showing proof of financial support.
- Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
- Copy of return flight tickets showing that applicants have intentions of returning to Malawi.
Visa type details
Tourist visa
- The China tourist visa is issued to foreigners for tourism purposes.
- Completely filled Chinese visa application forms provided in two copies.
- The applicant must sign both copies of the application form.
- Incomplete or unsigned applications will delay the application process.
- (2) recent passport photographs taken against a white background.
- The applicant must provide a copy of the round trip airline confirming the dates of entry and exit from China.
- Applicant's name must be on the ticket, applicants are not required to send the original ticket.
- Proof of accommodation issued by the inviting party or hotel reservation.
- Copy of most recent bank statements or a letter from the bank of at least $125 per day verifying that the applicant has sufficient funds during the stay.
- Letter of invitation from tour organization or relative to be visited in China stating the exact duration of stay and purpose of the visit is required.
- An international certificate of vaccination for yellow fever is required. The applicant must submit a photocopy of the booklet.
- The applicant under age 18 must submit a signed letter of consent signed by both parents, a copy of the minor's birth certificate and a copy of the passports or photo IDs of both parents.
Business visa
- Malawi signed passport must be valid for 6 months from the date you plan to depart China.
- Passport must contain sufficient blank visa pages.
- Visas and stamps should be affixed to the blank pages of the passport.
- Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not acceptable for visa issuance.
- If the passport does not meet this requirement, the applicant must renew a passport or obtain a new one.
- (2) Passport photographs.
- China visa application form that is signed and completely filled.
- Letter from host, sponsor or company to be visited in China stating responsibility for applicant’ financial means in China.
- Letter of invitation written on company letterhead explaining the nature of the business to be conducted, and specifying the type and validity of the requested visa.

- The applicant must provide a copy of round trip airline confirmation indicating the dates of entry and exit from the country you intend to visit.
