Basic Travel Requirements for Mauritanians visiting Mexico
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Mexican Visa.
- A Mauritanian international passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
- Credit/debit card or PayPal account for payment.
- Duly filled and signed visa application form.
- If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
- Passport-size photographs (2 x 2” in dimension) taken in white background.
- Travel document.
- Proof of financial support.
- Proof of accommodation
- Copy of return flight ticket with e-Ticket Number
- Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from the applicant’s employer.
- A police report showing the traveller does not have a criminal record.
- Medical Insurance.
- Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
- Copy of travel itinerary.
- If staying with a friend/relative, you must provide a cover letter which includes the address and ID of the person.

Mexico Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Mauritanians travelling to Mexico for business will have to secure a business visa first.
- Business travellers are permitted to attend conferences, trade fairs, and business summits while they are in Mexico.
- A signed official letter from your employer confirming that you are undertaking this business trip on the company’s behalf is needed.
- The purpose and dates of the trip will also be outlined in the letter.
- If a number of trips are required/envisaged, this must be clearly stated in the letter.
- If going for a business meeting, the Mexican company you’d be meeting may also provide a letter confirming the trip.
- If you are responsible for the costs of the trip, evidence of how you intend to finance your trip and support yourself for the duration of your visit must be provided.
- Certificate of business registration of the Mexican company you’d be visiting may be required.
- Mexican visa cannot be applied by mail. You must physically appear at the embassy for your application.
- As always, carry a copy of your return ticket and hotel or hostel booking just in case.
- Mexico visa costs about $36 and takes only two days for processing, in most cases. Depending on the country and embassy involved, processing time could go up to 8 weeks so applicants are advised to always submit their applications well in advance.
- The visa fee can be paid in cash in most embassies. Some embassies accept only money orders. You should check with your nearest embassy for information about how they accept payments.
- The normal validity of the Mexican business visa is 180 days.
- If you are under the age of 18, the unabridged original copy of your birth certificate should be made available.
- Also, a letter of consent signed by both your parents is required if you will be travelling without your parents.
- A document which shows that you have the incentive of returning to your country at the expiry of your visa should be submitted during the visa application process.
- You must provide proof of your financial ability so as to support yourself financially during your stay in Mexico and for your return transportation.
- Mexico requires visitors to have USD 50 per day for staying in Mexico.
- You will have to provide your recent colour photograph for the visa application. Make sure that your photograph matches or corresponds to all the specifications required for visa photographs.
- In any case, your photograph must not be more than 6 months old. You will need to submit two copies of your passport photograph along with your visa application form.
Mexico Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The tourist visa is issued to people who wish to visit Mexico for tourism or leisure. Those who wish to visit friends and family members residing in Mexico will also need this visa.
- An invitation letter from the friend or relative you are paying a visit to should be provided. The letter should have a valid home address and telephone number of your host.
- While on a tourist visa, you may attend Mexican festivals and events.
- Applicants are required to present a letter from their current employer stating an awareness of leave. This letter will also serve to confirm that the applicant has the intention of returning to his home country.
- Your position in the company, the term of your employment, and the duration of your leave should be stated in the letter.
- The visa costs $36.00USD usually and the processing time is always 2 days. The visa fee might be more or less than the normal charge depending on the countries, embassy or consulate of Mexico you are applying from, and the processing time might take longer than 2 days in some cases.
- You must fill a Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) card before you enter Immigration and Customs at your port of entry. Normally, an FMM card will be given to you on your inbound flight.
- At your first port of entry in Mexico, you have to go through Customs and Immigration. You will be asked about your purpose of travel, whether it is your first time in Mexico, etc.
- Depending on how you answer these questions, your passport will be stamped.
- The number of days you will be allowed to stay will be marked on the FMM card. Usually, it would be 180 days.
- You must retain the FMM card while you are in Mexico. If you lose, you have to pay a penalty on your exit.
- You have to return the FMM card to the airline staff on your exit. If you lose your FMM card, you must pay a penalty.
- To avoid any penalties and delays on your exit, make sure to keep the FMM card safe while you are in the country.
