Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Portuguese Visa.

Portugal Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Schengen tourist visa is for Mozambicans visiting Portugal for vacations, tourism and relaxation purposes.
  • Applicants of this visa can also visit family and friends resident in Portugal.
  • Portugal is part of the Schengen Area which is made up of 26 European countries, so a Schengen visa is required. 
  • Tourists are required to register with Portuguese Immigration Service within three days of entering Portugal. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in an administrative offense punishable with a fine from €60 to €160.
  • The following documents are also required:
    • Your original passport and copies of your previous visas.
    • Proof of travel insurance to cover you for the Schengen area.
    • Cover letter stating the purpose of your visit and itinerary that includes your activities, flight dates and times, entry and exit out of Portugal.
    • Bank statements for the last three months.
  • Mozambicans are not allowed to take up paid or unpaid employment in the country.
  • They are also not allowed to seek public funds while in Portugal.

Portugal Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa enables Mozambicans to visit Portugal to engage in business activities.
  • While you are in the country with this visa, you can meet up with business partners for meetings and to negotiate and sign contracts.
  • You can also attend trade fairs, conferences, and business summits while you are in the country.
  • Invitation letter from the company you will be visiting in Portugal should be provided. The address of the company and the dates of your visit should be stated in the letter.
  • If the company you are meeting with in Portugal will be responsible for your expenses while in the country, it should be stated in the letter.
  • A letter is required from your employer in Mozambique stating awareness and allowance of your business travel for the duration of your time in the country.
  • If the applicant of this visa has been in business with this company before, proof of such events must be provided.
  • Certificate of business registration of your business partner in Portugal is required.
  • You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.
  • Mozambicans are expected to exit the country at the expiry of their visa.

Portugal Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Medical visa allows Mozambicans to visit Portugal for medical treatment.
  • Portugal has a state-funded universal healthcare system offered to all.
  • Medical diagnosis is required from your local doctor and It should be accompanied by a document stating why the ailment is best treated in Portugal.
  • If you are planning to stay in Portugal for more than 90 days, you can ask for a certificate from your local council office. The certificate allows you to access Portugal’s public healthcare.
  • A medical attestation from the hospital or doctor in Portugal, confirming the date of appointment as well as your medical situation is required.
  • You are also required to provide proof of international health insurance when applying for your visa. The insurance must have a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000. It must have an emergency medical evacuation and repatriation benefit.
  • If you are employed, a letter from your employer is required. Your employer should state in the letter that he is aware of your leave. Your position and how long you have been employed in the company should be clearly stated.
  •  Proof of payment of medical fees should be provided as well as medical insurance to cover the entire stay should be provided.
  • Minors must ensure that they possess the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are traveling alone or with one of their parents, a document of consent which is signed by both parents of the minor should also be provided.
