Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Bahamian Visa.

  • A valid passport.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs taken in white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support.
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Copy of return flight ticket
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer.

The Bahamas is a country which is located along the Atlantic Ocean. The country is made up of over 700 islands and 2400 cays, some of which are uninhabited while some others are packed with resorts. The Bahamas is known for its waterways which makes it an ideal destination for scuba diving, snorkeling, water sports, kayaking, deep-sea fishing, kiteboarding, and wild dolphin excursions. Nature lovers are not left out of the fun in the Bahamas as there are various nature walks which can be explored.
 
The tourism industry in the Bahamas plays an important role in the Bahamian economy. The industry is responsible for over 60% of the country’s GDP and responsible for the employment of over half of the country’s workforce. The Bahamas was visited by over 5.8 million visitors in 2012, and since then, the number of tourist visits has been on the rise.
 
Foreigners must declare currency of up to $10,000 of currency on entry and exit from the country. Tourists could be deported or imprisoned for the possession or trafficking of drugs.
 
Nationals of Antigua and Barbuda, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States can stay in The Bahamas for up to 8 months without a visa.

Bahamas Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This is the type of visa issued to Nigerians intending to visit The Bahamas for tourism purposes.
  • You can also visit family and friends while on this visa.
  • All visitors to The Bahamas must carry a valid passport.
  •  Visa applicants intending to visit a friend or family need to submit an invitation letter from a family member or host living in The Bahamas.
  • This letter should clearly state the address and contact details of the host, as well as your relationship with them.
  • Where a minor child is traveling with only one parent, a notarized letter of permit from the parent not traveling may be requested.
  • If traveling with non-parents, a notarized letter from the minor's guardians would be required.
  • The letter should indicate that the chaperones are authorized to travel outside the country with the minor, as well as permit the chaperones to seek medical attention for the minor, if necessary.
  •  During the visa application, you will need to provide proof of sufficient funds to last the duration of your stay.
  • You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires and present documents that show you have the intention to do so.
  • This visa does not serve study purposes. You cannot be enrolled in any of the institutions of learning in the country.

Bahamas Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This is the type of visa issued to Nigerians traveling to The Bahamas for business purposes.
  • You will need to provide an invitation letter from the Bahamian company you will be visiting.
  • This letter will also contain their detailed address, accompanied with the date and actual purpose of your trip.
  • If the intention is to attend a meeting or seminar, confirmation/invitation from the conference organizer/institution is required.
  • Pre-registration is recommended for business travelers who will be attending conferences in the country. Proof of this registration is required.
  • If you are employed, you will have to present a certificate from your employer stating or allowing your business travel.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover the costs of stay (e.g. bank statement for 2 recent months) is required.
  • Upon arriving in The Islands Of The Bahamas, everyone must fill out and sign an immigration form, keeping a portion of the card in hand until departing
  •  An oral baggage declaration is required.
  • Each adult visitor is allowed to bring 50 cigars, 200 cigarettes or one pound of tobacco, one quart of spirits and a variety of personal effects (personal radio headsets, bicycle, two still cameras, etc.).
  • All beer imported into the country is dutiable at a rate of $10 per imperial gallon or $18 per case. 
  • You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.
