Basic Travel Requirements for Nigerians visiting Bangladesh

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Bangladeshi Visa.

  • A Nigerian passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs (2 x 2” dimension) taken in white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Copy of return flight ticket
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer.
  • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.

Bangladesh offers tourists a lot of tourist attraction with a wide range of activities. The number of tourist visits in Bangladesh last year was estimated to be a total of 620,000. This was a massive increase from the number posted the previous year. For the next year, the government has set a target of welcoming one million tourists to the country.
 
If you are in possession of more than $5,000 or its equivalent on entry to Bangladesh, you are required to declare. You cannot leave the country with more than the amount of USD you took in with you and you cannot leave the country with 5,000 Bangladeshi takas. Avoid taking photographs of military and government buildings.

Bangladesh Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • A tourist visa is needed to visit Bangladesh for tourism purposes.
  • The Bangladeshi tourist visa can be single or multiple entry, usually valid for 30 days in a one-year period.
  • The bank statement you submit must show a minimum balance of $1500.
  • Bangladesh does not allow the exchange of local currency (Bangladeshi taka) for U.S. dollars (cash and traveler’s checks) unless the customer has a ticket for travel outside Bangladesh.
  • Citizens of most countries require a valid visa to enter Bangladesh, but the type and category issued is at the embassy’s discretion.
  • Type and category of visa varies according to the purpose of visit, the length of stay and bilateral arrangement with the country of the foreign national.
  • Any change in rules and regulations made by the Government of Bangladesh will apply to issued visas.
  • Your passport must be valid for six months beyond your planned stay in Bangladesh, have at least one blank page, and have a Bangladeshi visa.
  • You must also possess an onward or return ticket.
  • You will need to visit the embassy with the following documents:
    • 1 (one) copy duly filled-in visa application form
    • 1 (one) copies of recent photographs (size: 37mm X 37mm)
    • Original valid passport (valid at least for 6 months)
    • Proof of payments of required visa fee (please check required visa fee for your country and category)
    • Self-addressed envelope with sufficient stamp for sending passport by registered post (if you want passport back by post)
  • You are advised to exit the country at the expiration of your visa. There are strict penalties for overstaying your visa.
  • Short-term travelers can be denied entry if they cannot demonstrate sufficient financial liquidity.

Bangladesh Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • A business visa is required for business travel to Bangladesh.
  • You will need to submit a letter from your company explaining the purpose of the visit, the type of business and the name of the customer you are going to visit in Bangladesh.
  • The visa cost for Nigerians is $253. 
  • Free of charge-visas are granted only to holders of diplomatic, special and service passport or to Bangladeshi citizens holding a passport of another nation.
  • The processing time is up to 14 working days, before the passport is returned.
  • Payments must be made directly at the Consular Office by draft cheque or cash.
  • If you submitted your visa request via an ordinary mail or courier, you should contact the consular section for instructions on how to proceed with the payment.
  • If you are employed, you will have to present a certificate from your employer stating or allowing your business travel.
  • Your bank statement from the last 6 months is needed. Short-term travelers can be denied entry if they cannot demonstrate sufficient financial liquidity.
  • Self-employed people will submit proof of business registration.
  • You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.
  • It must be made clear whether your trip will be sponsored by the employer or the local company.
  • You should follow these steps to complete the online application process:
    • Step 1: Fill up and submit the Online Visa Application Form
    • Step 2: Print the completed form
    • Step 3: Take the printed form enclosed with required documents, payment of visa fees documents to the nearest Visa office / Bangladesh Mission.
  • There are penalties for overstaying your visa, and it can be very difficult and time-consuming to change immigration status after arrival.
  • When traveling by air, all foreigners except children under the age of two must pay a departure tax.
  • While often included when air tickets are purchased, it may be collected at the airport at the time of departure.
  • The amount varies depending on the destination.
