Basic Travel Requirements for Nigerians visiting Belarus

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Belarusian Visa.

  • A valid ordinary passport (must be valid at least 90 days beyond intended date of departure from Belarus).
  • Duly completed and signed application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs taken in white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support.
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Copy of return flight ticket
  • Documentation showing applicants ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer.
  • Medical insurance policy with coverage at least  €10,000, valid in Belarus during the whole duration of stay.

Foreign drivers are not allowed to drive on some roads for free, a fee has to be paid. Tourists cannot take photographs of official institutions, police stations, military facilities, and the Minsk metro.

Belarus Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This is the type of visa issued to persons who intend to visit Belarus for tourism purposes. You can also visit family and friends while on this visa.
  • All visitors to Belarus must carry a valid passport.
  • Visa applicants need to submit an invitation letter from a family member or host living in Belarus. This letter should clearly state the address and contact details of the host, as well as your relationship with them.
  •  During the visa application, you will need to provide proof of sufficient funds to last the duration of your stay.
  • Applicants may also be required to submit a document that shows they have the incentive of returning to their country at the expiry of the visa.
  • You are advised to exit the country before your visa expires.
  • Proof of yellow fever vaccination is also required.
  • This visa does not serve study purposes. You cannot be enrolled in any of the institutions of learning in the country.
  • You don't need a visa to transit Belarus by air, but the maximum period you can transit and remain airside is 24 hours.
  • Visas are issued by the following bodies:
    • Consular sections of Belarus
    • Diplomatic Representative offices of Belarus
    • Consular Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Minsk Airport (for nationals of countries without  Belarusian representative offices)
  • In order to receive a visa, you must submit the following documents to your local Consular Section or representative office:
    • a completed visa questionnaire
    • 1 passport photo
    • supporting documents (original letter of invitation, with the signature and, if a business, seal of the inviting party)
    • other documents stipulated by the Consular office (depending on nature of visit and type of visa required.)
    • passport (with an expiry date at least 90 days after the expiry of the visa).

Belarus Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This is the type of visa issued to Nigerians traveling to Belarus for business purposes.
  • You will need to provide an invitation letter from the Belarus company you will be visiting.
  • This letter will also contain their detailed address, accompanied with the date and actual purpose of your trip.
  • Proof of any previous business dealings with the company you are meeting up with should be provided.
  • If the intention is to attend a meeting or seminar, confirmation/invitation from the conference organizer/institution is required.
  • If you are employed, you will have to present a certificate from your employer stating or allowing your business travel.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover the costs of stay (e.g. bank statement for 2 recent months) is required.
  • Self-employed people may need to submit proof of business registration.
  • You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa.
  • It must be made clear whether your trip will be sponsored by the employer or the local company.
  • Foreign nationals arriving in Belarus via Minsk National Airport can get a visa at the airport.
  • Before arrival, a foreign national needs to submit in advance (not later than the established time frame) the documents to the Foreign Admissions Division (FAD) of the Consular Directorate of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, which is located at the airport:
    • for short-term visas – not later than 3 business days before the expected arrival date;
    • for long-term visas – not later than 5 business days before the expected arrival date.
  • Visa support documents may be submitted by the inviting company or person or by post taking into account the delivery time.
  • Travelers must be ready to show evidence of a medical insurance policy with at least 10,000 Euros of coverage valid throughout Belarus.
  • Such a policy may be purchased at the airport upon arrival; please see the Embassy of Belarus website for information about current fees.
  • Belarus and Russia do not have international passport control capabilities at the land border. Therefore foreigners, even those holding valid visas, may not cross the Belarusian – Russian border by car, train, or on foot.
  • Foreign citizens entering on a tourist or business visa may not stay in Belarus for more than 90 days total during any calendar year, including dates of entry and departure.
  • Your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the period of stay if you plan on transiting a Schengen country from Belarus.
  • You will also need sufficient proof of funds and a return airline ticket.
  • Belarus does not currently have any strict HIV/AIDS entry restrictions for foreign visitors. 

Belarus Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • An international student who wants to pursue an educational course in Belarus will have to obtain a student visa.
  • The Belarus student visa is a long-term visa granted to students who have already been accepted for admission by a recognized educational institute in Belarus.
  • The student visa must be obtained before entry into the country.
  • To be eligible for a Belarus student visa, you must provide proof of having being accepted as a student by a recognized Belarusian university.
  • You must also provide proof of full payment of tuition fees for the course.
  • Your medical insurance must cover the total number of days you will be staying in Belarus as a student.
  • Proof of yellow fever vaccination may also be needed.
  • Most universities will assist students in obtaining the student visa. Upon arrival in Belarus, the individual universities will also assist students in obtaining a temporary residency permit.
  • This permit is valid for one year.
  • An HIV/AIDS test, performed by a Belarusian clinic, is required for a residency permit.
  • Successful applications will be processed within 5 working days of receiving the request.
  • The new rates of the consular fees for entry visas became effective in Belarus on 1 January 2017.
    • An individual visa – €60 (for all types of visas, regardless of the number of entries);
    • A group visa (per person) – €10.
  • Applicants are required to show evidence of finances in the form of cash, credit cards or travelers checks equivalent to 25 Euros for each day of stay.
  • Every foreigner planning to come to Belarus for study will need the following:
    • first year Tuition Pack
    • medical fitness certificate(original)
    • valid international passport
    • original Educational certificates
    • birth certificate (hard copy)
    • 10 passport-size photographs 4x6cm
    • official study invitation (Approved by Federal Migration Department of Belarus)
    • Ok-To-Board letter (for visa-on-arrival  applicants only).
  • Typically, undergraduate courses demand three to four years. While post-graduate studies demands, at least, one year.
