Basic Travel Requirements for Nigerians visiting Jordan

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Jordanian Visa.

  • A Nigerian passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs (45 × 35 mm in dimension) taken in white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Copy of return flight ticket.

Jordan is an Arab nation on the east bank of the Jordan River, is defined by ancient monuments, nature reserves and seaside resorts. It’s home to the famed archaeological site of Petra, the Nabatean capital dating to around 300 B.C. Set in a narrow valley with tombs, temples and monuments carved into the surrounding pink sandstone cliffs, Petra earns its nickname, the "Rose City."

General Requirements for Jordan Visa

Jordan Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Nigerians looking to travel to Jordan for tourism purposes can apply for the Jordanian tourist visa.
  • There are three types of Jordanian tourist visa:
    • Single-entry visa: this visa is valid for two months.
    • Double-entry visa: this visa is valid for three months.
    • Multiple-entry visa: this visa is valid for six months.
  • Foreigners are required to declare amounts greater than JOD10,000 or the equivalent in other currencies at entry port.
  • Travelers are required to register as soon as they enter the country. Travelers who fail to properly register themselves incur a fine of 1.5 JD (approximately 2 USD) per day beyond their permitted length of stay.
  • Travelers seeking to extend their stay beyond the initial time frame are legally required to have an HIV/AIDS test performed at a government medical facility as part of a general medical screening.
  • Certain areas of Jordan, including Petra, the Dead Sea, and other tourist areas, are prone to heavy rain and flash flooding from October-February. Roads and bridges may become impassable and the Jordanian government may close tourist areas completely. 
  • The Jordanian constitution provides for freedom of speech and of the press with some restrictions. Insulting the King or members of the Royal Family may lead to detainment or imprisonment.
  • Travelers are advised not to visit Jordan as it is not safe for foreigners, but if you decide to visit anyways ensure you heed to the following:
    • Be aware of your surroundings.
    • Take appropriate steps to increase your security awareness.
    • Be unpredictable in your movements by varying your times and routes.
    • Maintain a low profile.
    • Avoid contact with any suspicious or unfamiliar objects and immediately report the presence of such objects to local authorities.

Jordan Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Jordanian business visa is applicable to Nigerians looking to do business in Jordan.
  • Foreigners looking to do business in Jordan will likely find opportunities in the country’s growing economy. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the process of doing business is a smooth one.
  • Despite any bureaucratic shortcomings, the warm nature of the Jordanian people certainly makes doing business in the country a more pleasant experience.
  • The work week in Jordan runs from Sunday to Thursday. Business hours are usually 8:30 to 13:00 and 15:30 to 18:30, but as Jordanians aren’t sticklers for time this can vary.
  • While Arabic is the official language of the country, most international business dealings are done in English. However, foreigners would do well to learn a few key Arabic phrases, and for the convenience of Jordanian associates.
  • It may take foreigners some time to get used to the Jordanian way of doing business. As the state religion, Islamic ideals affect the workplace as do the strong cultural values held by Jordanians.
  • Handshakes are the standard greeting in Jordan and eye contact is important. Men should, however, wait for women to initiate a handshake. The most senior person, usually the eldest, should be greeted first.
