Basic Travel Requirements for Nigerians visiting Netherlands
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Dutch Visa.
- A Nigerian passport and copies of your previous visas valid for at least 3 months beyond return date are required. Your passport must have at least two blank pages.
- A duly completed and signed visa application form.
- If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
- Two passport-size photographs (35mm x 45mm) taken on light gray background.
- Travel document.
- Proof of financial support.
- Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of stay in the Netherlands.
- Copy of flight itinerary reservation with dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from the Netherlands.
- Documentation showing the applicant’s ties to the home country.
- Travel Visa Insurance confirmation of minimum €30,000 coverage within the Netherlands and the entire Schengen area.

General Requirements for Netherlands Visa

Netherlands Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Netherlands tourist visa is also known as the "Type C" Schengen visa. It enables tourists to visit the Netherlands for relaxation or pleasure.
- You must have a valid passport with at least two blank pages to affix the visa.
- Two passport photographs with the following requirements are needed:
- Taken recently (not older than six months).
- 35mm x 45mm photo size taken on a white background.
- During your visa application, you are required to provide a covering letter briefly introducing yourself and explaining the true purpose and duration of your visit.
- A copy of an onward or return ticket is also important.

Netherlands Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Netherlands business visa enables Nigerians to visit the Netherlands for business.
- An original passport not older than 10 years with at least a validity of 3 months beyond the intended period of stay is required.
- While you are in the country with this visa, you can meet up with business partners to negotiate and sign contracts.
- You can also attend trade fairs, conferences, and business summits while you are in the country.
- An invitation letter from the company you will be visiting in the Netherlands should be provided. The address of the company and the dates of your visit should be stated in the letter.
- If the company you are meeting in the Netherlands will be responsible for your expenses while you are in the country, this should be stated in the letter.
- A letter from your employer in Nigeria stating awareness and allowance of your business travel is important.
- If the applicant of this visa has had previous business dealings with the company they are visiting, proof of this must be provided.
- You cannot be gainfully employed while you are in the country with this visa. Holders of the Netherlands business visa also cannot seek public funds.
- Nigerians are expected to exit the country at the expiration of their visas.
- Before this visa is issued, it must have been proven that the applicant does not pose a threat to public order, public health, domestic security or international relations.
- Travelers should be able to prove they have enough funds to comfortably spend at least 34 euros per day while in the Netherlands.
Netherlands Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- A Schengen Medical Visa allows Nigerians to enter a Schengen-area country in order to receive medical treatment in a Schengen medical institution.
- You can only stay in the Schengen area (and receive the treatment) for up to 90 days with the Schengen medical treatment visa.
- Applicants coming to the Netherlands for medical treatment must apply for a residence permit. This application costs € 1033.
- A letter from your doctor/medical institution in Nigeria confirming that you need medical treatment in a Schengen country. The letter must also state your medical history and the medical treatment you will receive in the specific Schengen country.
- Official document of acceptance from the Schengen medical institution confirming they can provide you with the medical treatment you need.
- Proof of accommodation in said Schengen medical institution.
- Proof of payment for medical treatment.
- If the ministry of health in your home country will cover the costs of your treatment, they must write an official letter declaring such intent.
- Proof the patient can cope with any additional medical costs that may come up.
- Proof of correspondence between the doctor in your home country and the one in the Schengen area.
- If you are employed, a letter from your employer is required. Your employer should state in the letter that he is aware of your leave. Your position and how long you have been employed in the company should be clearly stated.
- The applicant must be able to demonstrate they have sufficient funds to cover their entire medical expenses while in the Netherlands.
- Minors must ensure they possess the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are traveling alone or with one of their parents, a document of consent which is signed by both parents of the minor should be provided.
- Travelers on a medical visa are not allowed to work while they are in the country.
- You are expected to leave the country at the end of your treatment.
- Visa holders are not allowed to take up permanent residence in the country, but temporary residence is allowed.
- The applicant has to sign a medical declaration. By signing this declaration, the applicant consents to be involved in any medical research, if necessary.
- A letter to the Medical Advice Bureau in the Netherlands is needed. This letter must include the following:
- The nature of the illness.
- Why treatment elsewhere will be inappropriate.
- If you are capable of financing the treatment.
Netherlands Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The Netherlands student visa is available for Nigerian students who have the intention of studying in a school in the Netherlands.
- Applicants of this visa should apply for a provisional residence visa also known as the MVV visa. Afterward, the host institution will then apply for a full residence permit on the traveler's behalf.
- To apply for an MVV visa, you will need a valid passport and at least one passport page photocopy.
- Proof that you are able to support yourself financially is required. It is expected that you have enough money to spend at least 850 euros per month.
- Before applicants can initiate the visa application process, they must have been accepted into one of the recognized institutions of learning in the Netherlands.
- This institution will need to provide you with a letter of admission. This is proof that you can attend lectures and write exams at school.
- Certificates and transcripts of the schools you previously attended are required.
- Foreign students are allowed to work part-time as long as it does not interfere with their studies.
- An extension of this visa can be granted to cover the full duration of your program.
- Student visa applicants are required to undergo a medical test for tuberculosis within three months of arriving in the Netherlands or your visa or residence permit will be taken away.
- If you are a minor traveling without your parents, a letter of consent signed by both parents should be provided. Also, an unabridged original copy of your birth certificate is required.
- It costs around €60 to process this visa.
- In certain cases, you might need to take a civic integration exam at the consulate. This exam costs 150 euros.
Netherlands Official Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- The official visa allows Government officials to visit the Netherlands for official and diplomatic purposes.
- A diplomatic note from the Nigerian government is required. The note should contain your position in government, the intended duration of your trip, as well as the purpose of your visit to the country.
- A copy of the original invitation letter should be provided.
- Applicants of this visa are mostly Heads of State, consular officers, ministers, and African Union representatives.
- Asides Head of States, if your purpose of visiting the country is non-official, this visa will not be issued to you.
- If you are traveling with a minor, the original copy of the minor’s birth certificate should be presented during the visa application process.
- Holders of this visa can attend conferences and business meetings while they are in the country.
- Travelers are advised to carry a valid means of identification at all times.
- The Netherlands official visa permits multiple entries into the country.
