Basic Travel Requirements for Nigerians visiting Philippines

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Filipino Visa.

  • A Nigerian passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended arrival date and must have 2 blank pages for visa stamp.
  • Duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • If the applicant is a minor, the parents/legal guardians have to sign the form.
  • Passport-size photographs (2 x 2” in dimension) taken in white background.
  • Travel document.
  • Proof of financial support
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Copy of return flight ticket
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer.
  • A police report showing the traveler does not have a criminal record.
  • Medical Insurance.
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.

The Philippines is a country that every beach lover would love. There is an island to suit the taste of every traveler. Tourists can enjoy surfing, kiteboarding, diving, and kayaking on any of the beaches in the country. The Philippines is also a great destination for outdoor activities, trekking can be done anywhere, while a lot of people are getting more interested in mountain-biking and canyoneering. It is also worth noting that the country is regarded as the zipline capital of the world.
 
In 2017, over 6.6 million foreigners visited the Philippines and this has contributed greatly to the Filipino economy. The industry has been responsible for contributing about 7.1% to the country’s GDP and providing 3.2% of the total workforce.
 
Foreigners should ensure they stay away from dealing with drugs of any kind. Severe penalties are handed out to tourists who are caught trafficking, using or in possession of illegal drugs. There is no mercy for pedophiles in the country, any case of child abuse or rape cases are treated in the harshest way possible.
 
Citizens from a wide range of countries, including all ASEAN countries, can enter the Philippines without a visa for up to 30 days, or obtain a visa on arrival for up to 59 days, as long as they have a return or onward ticket and a valid passport.

Philippines Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This type of visa is delivered to applicants who want to visit the Philippines for tourism.
  • The Philippines tourist visa is normally processed under 10 business days, but in some cases could extend up to 4 weeks.
  • Visa applicants are strongly advised to finalize their flight booking only after the visa is granted.
  • The embassy will not hasten the visa processing to accommodate the applicant’s flight schedule.
  • Processing of visa could be faster if the applicant’s country has an existing visa agreement with the Philippines.
  • Please note that no refund of the visa application fee will be made if the application if denied or the visa is approved after the applicant’s scheduled departure date.
  • Applicants are not allowed to work or study on this visa.
  • Prepare to leave the country within the time allowed by the visa; overstaying is an offense.
  • Application for a tourist visa must be made in person.
  • In the case of a minor under eighteen (18) years of age, the application may be made for him by a person who, in the opinion of the consular officer, is responsible for his/her welfare.
  • The minor, not an infant in arms, shall be required to appear at the Consulate for interview, together with the person making the application for him/her.
  • Visa applications should normally be made at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate that has jurisdiction over their place of residence. While some visa applicants may apply at any Philippine Embassy or Consulate abroad, others are only allowed to apply his/her visa at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in his country of origin or legal residence.
  • The following requirements must be submitted when applying for this type of visa:
    • Completely filled up application form. Application forms that are incompletely filled-out will be returned to the applicant.
    • Original and photocopy of the passport with a validity that must extend at least six (6) months beyond the length of proposed stay in the Philippines.
    • One 2″ x 2″ size photograph taken within the last six (6) months. The applicant’s signature must be affixed on the front side of the picture.
    • A photocopy of the applicant’s round trip flight itinerary to his/her country of origin or flight itinerary to his/her next country of destination.
    • Proof of financial capacity (e.g. latest print-out of credit card account(s), latest print-out of bank statements, ownership of real estate properties, and other documents showing the applicant’s capacity to financially support their selves during the stay in the Philippines. You will need more than one type of proof of financial capacity.

Philippines Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to those visiting the Philippines for the purpose of study.
  • A Student Visa is necessary if a foreign national, 18 years old and above, intends to take up a course higher than high school in the Philippines.
  • Furthermore, he/she has to have sufficient means of support for education in the Philippines.
  • Only selected schools accredited by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) may accept and enroll foreign students. Only then may the foreign student apply for a Student Visa.
  • The student visa applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old and only seeking to enter the Philippines for the sole purpose of taking up a course of study in an approved school in the Philippines.
  • A Special Study Permit (SSP) is issued to a foreign national below the age of 18 and/or taking non-degree courses in the Philippines.
  • A SSP is a PERMIT, not a visa. It is issued under the Temporary Visitor’s Visa of a foreign national.
  • The student applicant must first communicate with the school concerned and comply with the school’s institutional requirements.
  • Applicants applying for this visa must appear at the Consulate in person for an interview.
  • A photocopy of the transcript of previous academic records is required.
  • Applicants may need to provide a comprehensive list of all possible contact persons they have in the Philippines.
  • Persons who were previously deported from the Philippines or included in the "blacklist order" of the Department of Foreign Affairs or Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines will not be allowed entry to the Philippines.
  • You will have to submit a copy of your birth certificate for authentication of your age.
  • The Philippines student visa can be extended to cover the entire duration of the study program.
  • For visa extension application, the biometric data previously captured during the visa conversion shall be used in the printing of the renewed ACR I-Card.
  • However, applicants aged ten (10) years and below shall have their image and fingerprint captured every extension of visa.
  • Applicants aged eleven (11) years and above shall have their image and fingerprint captured every after five (5) years.
