Application requirements

Documents Pakistani applicants need to provide.

  • Afghanistan visa application form that is fully completed and duly signed.
  • Angola Passport with at least six months validity.
  • The passport must have at least two blank pages for the visa stamp.
  • One (2×2 inch) passport photograph with a white background is required.
  • The passport photograph must not be older than six months.
  • Uncompleted application or application with missing necessary documents will not be processed and the fee will not be refunded.
  • Applicants must strictly follow Afghanistan visa requirements or the application will be rejected.
  • Applicants should not sign electronically if the application form is obtained online. The signature must be in the applicant’s handwriting before submitting it.
  • Documents verifying the applicant’s current address in Pakistan, such as driver’s license, and utility bills are required.
  • Afghanistan visa fee is free for nationals of Pakistan.
  • All required documents should be translated to either English, Pashto, and Dari.
  • Receipt showing the applicant has paid the visa application fee.
  • The applicant should provide a bank statement indicating proof of sufficient funds to sustain him/her during the period of stay in Afghanistan and to return to his/her country of origin or transit into the third country.
  • A police report indicating the applicant has no international criminal record.
  • A valid travel document, showing entry and exit date.
  • Certificate of vaccination showing applicants has not contacted any contagious disease.
  • The Certificate of vaccination must be issued by the Ministry of Health in Pakistan.
  • Applicants will be denied a visa if he/she does not have any certificate of vaccination if arriving from an infected area.
  • Underage children travelling alone, important certified authorization by the parent is required.
  • Health insurance for the period of stay in Afghanistan, covering medical costs throughout stay.

Visa type details

Tourist visa

  • Tourist visas are granted to all foreigners who intend to visit family and friends, or for sight-seeing and recreation activities in Afghanistan.
  • Applicants with a tourist visa can also visit natural, tourist and historic sites in Afghanistan.
  • One completed and signed the visa application form.
  • Two recent passport size photo that is taken with a white background.
  • Valid Pakistani passport, for at least 6 months beyond stay in Afghanistan.
  • The tourist visa can be extended only once with the consent of the Afghan Tourism Department. Extension of tourist visa lasts for a duration of 30 days.
  • Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation is required.
  • Applicants are also required to provide a copy of the flight itinerary.
  • A letter of introduction stating whom you intend to visit in Afghanistan for applicants visiting family or friends. The letter should also state the financial responsibility of the Applicant.
  • The letter should also describe the purpose of the journey, place, with whom the applicant will be residing, and the residence address during the stay in Afghanistan.
  • If tourism is the purpose of the applicant’s visit, it should be stated in detail the nature of the tour and places intended to travel in Afghanistan.
  • Activities such as business and work are not permissible on a tourist visa.

Business visa

  • A business visa is issued to foreigners for business purposes, investment, marketing, commercial transactions, selling and buying property in Afghanistan.
  • A valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining.
  • The passport must have at least one empty page for stamp.
  • One visa application form fully completed and signed.
  • One passport-type photograph attached to the application form.
  • Employer letter from the Sponsoring government or organization in Afghanistan stating the purpose and duration of the trip is required.
  • The name and contact information of the company in Afghanistan should be clearly stated in the letter.
  • The letter must be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Chambers of Commerce in Afghanistan.
  • Applicants applying for a business visa should be below the age of retirement (65) and must provide their educational documents along with the visa application.
  • Onward/return ticket or confirmed itinerary


Official visa

  • Official visa is issued to those who are visiting the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for conducting official assignments in the diplomatic and consular missions of foreign countries.
  • Visa application form is correctly filled out and legibly.
  • The applicant’s passport must be valid for at least six months.
  • Two (2 by 2 inches) Passport photograph, one affixed to the appropriate box on the application form
  • Passport photos must be taken recently and identical, with a light background.
  • Issuing of Afghanistan visa for applicants is free of charge.
  • The maximum stay required for applicants of official visa is 30 days.
  • This visa is issued for holders of diplomatic passports who intend to travel to Afghanistan. Diplomatic passport holders can obtain this type of visa from the Afghan Missions aboard.
  • Applicants must contact the Section of Diplomatic passport and Diplomatic Visa of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly through their mission in Kabul, Afghanistan.
  • For official visits, please contact your employer to send a letter of introduction with the purpose of your visit to The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Afghanistan for issuance approval.
  • This visa is issued for holders of diplomatic passports who intend to travel to Afghanistan. Diplomatic passport holders can obtain this type of visa from the Afghan Missions in Pakistan.
  • However, they must contact the Section of Diplomatic passport and Diplomatic Visa of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly through their mission.
