Basic Travel Requirements for Filipinos visiting Eritrea

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Eritrean Visa.

  • A completed visa application form.
  • The passport photo must not be older than six months.
  • Four passport photographs size (50mm x 50mm) should be submitted.
  • Original Passport or Travel document with at least 6 months remaining validity on the date of travel and have at least 2 visa pages clear of any markings.
  • You must be in good health condition.
  • A clear scan of the information pages of your signed, machine-readable passport. Provide the pages of your current passport showing your photo, personal details, and passport issue and expiry dates. It must be valid for six months beyond the expiry date of the visa.
  • Provide a previous passport if any.
  • Hotel bookings for the duration of your visit.
  • Flight reservations(s) for the country of your visit and return ticket.
  • Covering letter mentioning the details of the applicant, travel, and details of the other members traveling with you.
  • Specify the type of visa you want to apply.
  • You must have sufficient financial means to support your travel.

Facts about Eritrea

Eritrea is home to a large number of wildlife and the regulations enforced by the Eritrean government has helped to steadily increase the number of wildlife animals. There are various species of mammals and 560 species of birds. While in the country you can see wonderful animals like the Abyssinia hare, African wild cat, Black-backed jackal, African golden wolf, Lions, African bush elephants and a host of others. Other attractions in Eritrea include Tank Graveyard, Opera house, Imperial Palace, etc. Tourists are sure to enjoy their time in the country.
 
Tourism in Eritrea is not as dominant as it used to be in the previous century. Although, the government is putting in a very big effort to develop the country’s tourism and make it better than what it was.
 
Visitors are not allowed to take photographs of military and government buildings. If you want to exchange money, it should be done at a state foreign currency exchange Himbol branch, it is illegal to do it anywhere else. All foreign currencies in excess of $10,000 should be declared on entry into Eritrea.

Eritrea Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to the Philippines traveling to Eritrea for business purposes.
  • One completed Eritrea business visa application form.
  • One passport-type photograph.
  • Physical passport with 6 months validity beyond trip completion and one blank visa page
  • Travel itinerary.
  • One copy of the flight itinerary
  • A company business letter should be provided.
  • An invitation letter from the organization should be provided.
  • Evidence of sufficient means to finance your support travel.
  • Payment of visa fees.

Eritrea Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to the Philippines traveling to Eritrea for tourism.
  • Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Eritrea, with at least one blank passport page available for Eritrean visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Eritrea visas.
  • One original Eritrean tourist visa application form, properly completed and signed, plus one copy.
  • Proof of accommodation/ hotel reservation.
  • Two recent 2 x 2 passport type photographs in color, front view and with a plain/white background.
  • An invitation letter from the host is required.
  • Supplemental Immigration Form.
  • Proof of Travel Arrangements.
  • Computer-generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency or copy of airline tickets.
  • Proof of Sufficient Funds.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds to support stay in Eritrea, such as most recent bank statements, pay stubs and/or traveler’s cheques.

Eritrea Work Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa is issued to the Philippines traveling to Eritrea for work purposes.
  • Eritrea works visa application form completely filled by the applicant.
  • A letter of employment from the organization in Eritrea.
  • Original, signed passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
  • Your current details (if married or divorced).
  • A copy of your curriculum vitae.
  • Proof of accommodation while working in Eritrea.
  • Passport photo with a white background, taken within the last 6 months. 
  • Travel Itinerary. A reservation of the flight itinerary under the traveler's name. This must show flights entering and exiting Eritrea.
  • A clean criminal track record.
  • Bank statement. Copy of the applicant's most recent monthly bank statement. The statement must clearly show the applicant's name as the account holder, the balances of the accounts, and the date of the statement.
