Basic Travel Requirements for Rwandans visiting Brazil

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Brazilian Visa.


  • Completely filled and signed visa form application.
  • Original passport valid for at least 6 months on intended date of trip to Brazil. It must have two blank pages for visa stamps.
  • One 2" x 2" passport sized photograph not older than 6 months that meet the visa photo specifications.
  • Documentation showing applicant’s ties to home country, e.g. verification from applicant’s employer or school for students.
  • Proof of accommodation for the entire stay.
  • Proof of funds to cater for expenses while in and to leave Brazil.
  • Flight reservations for Brazil and return ticket to Rwanda.
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.
  • Proof of payment of consular fees.
  • International certificate of immunization against yellow fever is recommended.
  • There's no Brazilian embassy in Rwanda so all visa applications go through the one in Nairobi, Kenya.

Venezuelans can also visit the country for 60 days without a visa.

What is the best way of getting around Brazil?

The bus system in Brazil is cheap and comfortable. For long distance journeys, it is advisable to avoid the high seat numbers which are close to the toilets. Air taxis can also be a good form of movement but they often stop several times and so not best for anyone scared of flying. Renting a car is an option for commuting while in Brazil but the road quality is not the best in all parts and there are a lot of very speedy drivers.

Yes they do but it isn't a general number for all emergencies. 190 is for police, 192 for ambulance and 193 for Fire Department. There are no English-speaking operators so you might need to be fluent in Portuguese.
