Basic Travel Requirements for Rwandans visiting Colombia

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Colombian Visa.

  • A passport valid from the date of entry
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.

Colombia Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • This visa allows Rwandans to visit Colombia for leisure and tourism purposes. 
  • The Colombia tourist visa (V) is also known as visitor visa.
  • Rwandans visiting their families and friends in Colombia are eligible for this type of visa.   
  • The application process of a Colombia visa for Rwandans is online.
  • When your electronic visa is issued, you will have to print it out and present it at port of entry in Colombia. 
  • Applicants who are applying for a Colombia visa from Rwanda are to receive their e-visa though mails. 
  • The e-visa is valid for up to 90 days. You are expected to leave immediately your visa expires.
  • The visa is extendable. It can be extended for another 90 days. You must apply in person at the Consulate of Colombia while seeking for extension. 
  • If you have stay in Colombia for 180 days, you are expected to leave Colombia or face a fine.
  • Overstaying your tourist visa may lead to deportation. Defaulters may not be able to return to Colombia for a second entry. 
  •  During the visa processing, you are required to submit your online application at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website. 
  • If applying through a travel agency, you are expected to present a letter stating you have been granted the agency the right to apply on your behalf. 
  • Bank statements of last three months are to be provided. 
  • Copies of your flight tickets are necessary. 
  • After you have received your approved electronic visa in your mail, you will be expected   to make payment either online or at the nearest Consulate General of Colombia within 15 days. 
  • You can withdraw your visa application online; there is no formal procedure to withdrawal. 
  • Your passports have to be valid for at least six months from the day of entry. 
  • When  you gain entry in Colombia, you will have to pass through the Customs and Immigration. You will be asked about your purpose of visit and intended number of stay in Colombia before your passport is marked with an entry stamp. 

Colombia Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Colombia Business Visa is granted to high ranking executives  of multi-national and foreign companies who have an aim of formulating business ties with Colombia. 
  • The business visa allows a  short period visit to Colombia.
  • Rwandans can only apply online for a Colombia business visa.  The application process is done on online. 
  • The visa allows for multiple  entries for up to six months at each visa. 
  • Holders of the business visa are not allowed to reside in Colombia. 
  • The Colombia business visa is sub-divided into four types:
      The NE1 : is meant for foreigners who wish to gain entry for the sole purpose of conducting business, foster economic exchanges, invest and create business. 
      The NE2:  allows foreigners to gain entry temporarily as business persons for infrastructure within Colombia which includes free trade agreements, promote businesses, develop investment, and established a commercial presence.  
      The NE3: enables foreigners who are government officials gain entry to promote commercial and economic exchanges in or with Colombia 
      The NE4:  is for foreigners who are senior executives or presidents of a multinational company in order to invest or generate business. 
  • The business visa is granted for a maximum of three years. 
  • The visa can be renewed for a period of two years, which only depends on the job contract.
  • A letter from a company within Colombia showing it has invited the foreigner for a visit, stating the company as the sponsor and would be responsible for the expenses  of the applicants while in Colombia. 
  • A certificate of existence of the company inviting the applicant for a visit to Colombia is to be provided. 

Colombia Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The student visa is granted to Rwandans intending to study in any recognized private or public school in Colombia. 
  • The Colombia student visa was previously  known as TP-3 visa. 
  • The Colombia student visa is categorized into; Migrant (V) visa and Visitor (V) visa. 
  • The M-visa is a visa for students intending to study a degree program such as bachelor program.. 
  • The V-visa is a visa for students who study a non-degree program like studying.  
  • Both visas can be longer than one year depending on the length of study. 
  • A valid passport or travel document is required with a minimum of two blank pages. 
  • Two recent passports taken in a whit background is to be presented at the entry of the Colombia port.
  • A photocopy of the admission or registration certificate issued by the educational establishment  is also part of the necessary documents needed. 
  • If a sponsor bears the financial responsibility of the student, documents of economic solvency will be provided to serve as evidence. 
  • In cases of minor, letter of authorization duly signed  by the parents of the student who has admission with a Colombian school is to be provided.  It has to be notarized by a Colombia consul. 
  • If you are a holder of an M-student visa for five years, you become eligible  to receive a Resident visa.
