Basic Travel Requirements for Rwandans visiting Cyprus

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Cypriot Visa.

  • A passport valid for three months from the date of entry and duration of stay. 
  • Two identical photo passports (40mmx50mm). 
  • A duly completed visa application form.
  • A letter from the applicant stating reasons for visiting Cyprus
  • A copy of hotel reservation confirming  the applicant’s accommodation. 
  • A letter of invitation which contains  the host’s contact information.
  • An official letter from applicant’s employer to confirm their employment status.

Cyprus Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  •  The Cyprus Tourist visa is a visa for travelers traveling to Cyprus  for reasons other than immigration. 
  • It is also known as a Short stay visa which is  why the visa is only issued for a short period of time. 
  • Rwandans who want to visit Cyprus to visit family/relatives or for tourism and leisure purposes are eligible fro this type of visa. 
  • The holders of this type of visa can enter and exit Cyprus once or multiple times.
  • The duration of your stay will not  exceed 90 days in any half of the year from the date of first visit. 
  •  The tourist visa is extendable. 
  • For a visit to family and friends, a letter of invitation is required. The letter has to be duly signed and completed by the host and should  include his/her contact details, house address and occupation. It should also be signed the Migration Department. 
  • A copy of a hotel reservation confirmed by the hotel manager would be needed. 
  • A  itinerary of travel arrangements showing the arrival date and intended duration of stay. The tickets should be purchased before the visa is issued. 
  • The visa for the return country should be valid  for at least three months beyond  the intended duration of stay. 
  • Visitors to Cyprus  are to have  original passports valid for at least three months beyond the period of validity of the visa issued(you will have to make photocopies of the passports too). 
  • A bank statement is necessary to serve an evidence of the applicant being financial capable of covering their expenses during their intended duration of stay in Cyprus. 
  • When a minor intend to enter Cyprus unaccompanied, he/she is expected to provide a statement giving consent and duly signed by both parents, then signed by the mayor of their area. 
  • Two passport photos  are required. A child has to include their parent’s passport photos too. 
  • The processing time takes about 10 to 15 days. 

Cyprus Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Cyprus business visa is a visa that allows visitors to Cyprus to attend conferences, seminars and business meetings.  
  • The business visa allows for more than one entry. So if you visit Cyprus often for business, note that the multiple entries would not  exceed more than 90 days in a 180-day period for each visit from the first date of entry. 
  • The multiple entry is valid for a year. In some cases, it might be valid for more one year but not more than five years for certain persons. 
  • Applicants have to provide the embassy with an evidence that they have been invited by a Cyprus company or are participating in any conference, seminars, or business events. 
  •   Holders of a Cyprus business visa can undertake any form of employment during the duration of their stay.  
  • For visits less than 90 days, visitors can exceed the duration of their stay while still in Cyprus. 
  • Any business visitor who wants to stay in Cyprus for more than 90 days can extend their stay by applying for a work or a temporary residence permit depending on the their reasons for extension it will be approved. 
  • The business visas can be obtained from Cyprus Consulate after the applicant has received an invitation from a Cyprus corporate organisation.
  • The time frame for obtaining a business visa depends on the embassy’s work load but it approximately takes 10 days. 
  • When visiting with a business visa, an official letter would be required. The letter should be addressed to the Consulate of Cyprus and have a proof of the applicant’s wage or salary. 
  • A photo copy of tax declaration for last three years will be required during the process of your visa application.  
  • If the applicant is self-employed, a letter from a solicitor, accountant, or bank manager should be provided to prove his/her financial status.  

Cyprus Medical Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Cypriot Medical visa allows Rwandans who want to visit Cyprus for medical purposes.  
  • It would be required of the applicant to present a medical report issued by a Rwandan hospital stating the type of ailment and the reason it is best treated. .
  • A document confirming  the appointment of treatment by the medical institution and  the duration of the treatment is to be provided. 
  • Certificate of employment from your employer in Rwanda  including information on leave of absence is to  be submitted at the Consulate of Cyprus. 
  • The applicant is expected to provide proof of his/her financial capability to cover the medical expenses during the treatment and  for the duration of stay. 
  • If a minor is traveling under this type of visa, a document that shows the parents’ consent is to be submitted. 
  • Holders of a Cypriot Medical visa are not allowed to work while in the country.They are only allowed to take medical treatment from a Cyprus hospital.  
  • Rwandans in Cyprus with a medical visa are   expected to leave the country after treatment has been completed.
  • Holders are not allowed to take up permanent residence in the country.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fee is required.
  • Before you will be issued this visa, you must have a clean criminal record.

Cyprus Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Rwandan students with the intention of studying in Cyprus are eligible for this visa. 
  •  A letter of acceptance from the school  is to be presented. 
  • The applicant is to provide  an enrollment certificate which allows them to attend courses in Cyprus.
  • Students in possession of this type of visa are to have the relevant permit issued by the Civil Archive and Migration Department for the visa application process. 
  • The student visa is issued for a specific educational institution. If any Rwandan studying in Cyprus  decides to change an institution, he/she has to obtain a new residence permit.
  • Rwandans on the students visa are not permitted to work. Exceptions are made by the  for certain courses for which working permits may be issued to enable practical training during the summer holidays. 
  • The Cyprus visa is meant for  Rwandans studying full-time.  A full-time student is one who takes a minimum of 12 credits in a semester.
  • As a Rwandan student, you are allowed to invite your friends and relatives to Cyprus.  However, it is only under the condition  that you can secure a bank deposit of 300 Cyprus Pound for each invited person.
  •  The applicants are to provide  certificates and transcripts from  previous schools. 
  • Non-Rwandans should submit a copy of their stay permit in Rwanda.
  • You are only allowed to work part-time as student during your stay in Cyprus. 
  • This visa can be extended to cover the duration of your study in the country.
  • If you are a minor, a letter of authorization signed by both your parents is required. Also, the original copy of your birth certificate should be presented.
  • Applicants of this visa are expected to present a proof of clean criminal record.
  • Receipt of paid visa application form is required.

Cyprus Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The transit visa is Rwandans who are making short stops at Cyprus.
  • This visa allows Rwandans to stop from an airplane in a Cypriot airport and board another flight going to another  destination.
  • A copy of a flight  ticket to destination country should be submitted  during visa application.
  • The visa of your destination country  is  part of the documents needed .
  • This visa may be issued for one transit, or exceptionally for several transits.
  • There is a group transit visa with has a maximum validity of 30 days issued by Cyprus embassy.
  • The group visa is issued on conditions that members of the group enter the territory, stay there and leave it as a group.
  • Group visas  are issued to groups of between 5 and 50 people. The person in charge of the group should possess an individual passport too. 
  • If you are under the age of 18 years, the unabridged original copy of your birth certificate should be provided.
  • Only travelers with a clean criminal record will be issued this visa.
  • Receipt of payment of visa application fee is required.
  • Holders of this type of visa can not allowed to study while you are in the country.
  • Proof of that you have the incentive to return to your country after your visa has expired.
  • The visa is valid for 5 days.
  • You are required to exit the country before the expiry of your visa.
  • The transit visa cannot be extended.

Cyprus Official Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Cyprus official visa is meant for diplomats who want to visit Cyprus for official duty.
  • A diplomatic note from the Rwandan government is required to process the visa.  The note should state your status in government, as well as the duration, and purpose of your visit to the country.
  • An invitation letter from the Cypriot government  inviting you to Cyprus is required.
  • Only Heads of States, Consular officers, ministers, and African Union representatives can apply for these type of visa.
  • The purpose of your visit has to be official to be granted a visa approval. Only Heads of States are exempt from this.
  • The  minors’ application forms should be signed by both their parents. The original copy of their birth certificate should be tendered during the visa application process.
  • The official visas allows holders to attend meetings and conferences in the country.
  • A proof  on the purpose of the journey which includes negotiations, meetings, event by intergovernmental organizations and consultations should be provided.
  • Holders of this visa are not allowed to take up a course of study or engage in any paid services,
  • Diplomats are required to present a valid means of identification.
