Guyana Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Rwandans looking to visit Guyana for tourism purposes can apply for this visa.
  • The Guyana tourist visa is a single-entry visa, it is valid for 30 days.
  • If you wish to extend your stay, you must contact the Ministry of Home Affairs in Georgetown before your current visa expires. A maximum of two extension of stay are allowed for one month each.
  • Visitors are required to leave the country once their stay expires. Penalties for overstaying are severe, you could be faced with a large fine or even imprisonment. 
  • If you are traveling for the purpose of exploration, you'll need to have a guide and appropriate vehicle provided by a local agency.
  • The only part of Guyana you can travel independently is Georgetown.
  • Vaccinations against malaria, zika virus and dengue fever are required. 
  • It is advised that you take precaution while traveling. Confirm the local situation in advance.
  • Guyana is prone to flooding, so it is advised not to travel there during the raining season. The main rainy season are on May- June and December- January. 
  • Although credit cards use is growing in retails and hospitality sectors, Guyana is still a large cash-based economy. So it is advised to carry cash at hand. 
  • US Dollars is more widely accepted in Guyana more than any other foreign currency.

  • The Guyana business visa is for Rwandans traveling to Guyana for business purposes.
  • The Guyana business visa is valid for 90 days and it is also a multiple-entry visa.
  • This visa also allows Rwandans start-up business in Guyana.
  • Guyanese law generally treats foreign companies the same as domestic companies.  Specific requirements to register a business depend on whether the enterprise will be a sole proprietorship, partnership, or an incorporated company.  Business registration is the responsibility of the Deeds Registry in Georgetown.
  • It is required of you to provide a business name. The Business Names (Registration) Act and the Partnership Act provide the regulatory framework for sole proprietorship, partnerships, and companies.  
  • Business attire is mostly less formal. For men, work attire consists of anything from a guayabera (shirtjacket) and slacks to a formal business suit.  For women, business suits predominate.   Most government buildings have a dress code that requires at least business casual attire.  
  • The process for incorporating a business is relatively straightforward and takes, on average, approximately eight days
  • Already-incorporated or foreign firms may wish to engage a competent local lawyer to facilitate the process and save time.  Registering a foreign company requires additional steps. 
  • Businesses establishing locally-managed operations should be careful to develop redundant accountability systems and select management staff with care.  
  • If you are visiting Guyana for a business meeting with another company in Guyana, you require the following documents:
    • Invitation letter from the company you will be visiting in Guyana should be provided. The address of the company and the dates of your visit should be stated in the letter.
    • If the company you are meeting with in Guyana will be responsible for your expenses while you are in the country, it should be stated in the letter.
    • A letter from your employer in Rwanda stating awareness and allowance of your business travel for the duration of your time in the country.
    • If the applicant of this visa has been in business with this company before, proof of such events must be provided.
    • Certificate of business registration of your business partner in Guyana is required.
