General Requirements for Norway Visa
Norway Visitor Visa Eligibility & Requirements
- Rwandans who intend to travel to Norway for tourism, sightseeing, vacation or other leisure activities are eligible to apply for this Norwegian visa.
- The Norwegian visitor visa also permits its holder to visit friends or relatives residing in Norway.
- A Rwandan passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the end of your visit to Norway should be used for your visa application.
- To show that you have enough money to cater to your needs in Norway (that is, you must be able to spend at least NOK 500 per day), you are to present your most recent bank account statements or a letter of financial guarantee from your host in Norway.
- If you have been in the Schengen area in the last 90 days, you must check when it is possible for you to re-enter, and how many days you can stay.
- Applicants must submit their visa application in person as their biometric data will be collected at the point of submission.
- Unaccompanied minors travelling to Norway must submit a copy of their birth certificate and a letter of consent from both parents or guardians, permitting them to travel.
- If a minor is travelling with one parent, they must present a letter of consent from the other parent allowing them to travel to Norway with one parent.
- If you are visiting a friend or relative in Norway, you must have a letter of invitation from your host.
- Proof of reserved accommodation for at least the first few days of your stay in Norway must be submitted.
- You must also provide proof of payment for the visa fee.
- Applicants should note that unless they can provide evidence that they have strong ties to Rwanda, they will not be granted a visitor visa for tourism.

- Your passport must be original with at least two blank pages for visa stamps, and be valid for not less than three months beyond the date you intend to leave Norway.
- You need medical travel insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000 to cover the entire duration of your stay in Norway, in case of any medical emergency.
- The circumstances in your home country must show that it is likely that you can return home at the end of your studies.
- You must also provide proof of accommodation for the entire duration of your study in Norway
- With a valid study permit, you can work part-time in Norway for up to 20 hours per week during school session and full-time on holidays.
- Applicants must pay a fee of NOK 5,300 for the Norwegian study permit if they are over 18.
- Applicants should note that it may be difficult for Rwandans to get a residence permit for studying at a lower level than Masters level.
