How to get a Norway visa from Rwanda

• Rwandans who intend to travel to Norway for tourism, sightseeing, vacation or other leisure activities are eligible to apply for this Norwegian visa.
• The Norwegian visitor visa also permits its holder to visit friends or relatives residing in Norway.
• A Rwandan passport that is valid for at least 3 months after the end of your visit to Norway should be used for your visa application.
• To show that you have enough money to cater to your needs in Norway (that is, you must be able to spend at least NOK 500 per day), you are to present your most recent bank account statements or a letter of financial guarantee from your host in Norway.
• If you have been in the Schengen area in the last 90 days, you must check when it is possible for you to re-enter, and how many days you can stay.
• Applicants must submit their visa application in person as their biometric data will be collected at the point of submission.
• Unaccompanied minors travelling to Norway must submit a copy of their birth certificate and a letter of consent from both parents or guardians, permitting them to travel.
• If a minor is travelling with one parent, they must present a letter of consent from the other parent allowing them to travel to Norway with one parent.
• If you are visiting a friend or relative in Norway, you must have a letter of invitation from your host.
• Proof of reserved accommodation for at least the first few days of your stay in Norway must be submitted.
• You must also provide proof of payment for the visa fee.
• Applicants should note that unless they can provide evidence that they have strong ties to Rwanda, they will not be granted a visitor visa for tourism.

• The Norwegian business visa is issued to foreign citizens who intend to enter Norway for business purposes.
• This visa permits you to stay for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period.
• You need to fill the visa application form accurately and completely then sign it before submitting. Failure to do this can delay the processing of your visa application.
• Your passport must be original with at least two blank pages and have a validity of not less than three months beyond the date you intend to leave Norway.
• Two recently taken passport-size photographs, taken with a white background and showing your whole face, is required for your visa application.
• You also need to present proof that you have a travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000 to cover for any medical emergencies for the entire duration of your stay in Norway.
• You must prove that you are financially able to fund the entire duration of your trip by providing your most recent bank account statements.
• To obtain a Norwegian business visa, you must submit an original copy of a letter of invitation from a Norwegian company, clearly stating your personal data (such as your full name and passport number), the reason behind the invitation and the trade relations between your company and the host partner company.
• If there exist previous trade relations between your company and the partner company, you must provide proof of such relations. This proof could be original bills of lading, custom clearance documents or any such proof you have.
• As proof that you intend to return to your country of origin once your visa expires, you are required to provide proof of a roundtrip ticket.
• You are also required to secure hotel accommodation in Norway for the entire duration of your stay in the country and provide proof of this.
• To prove your employment status, you must submit an employment contract, leave letter, your current bank account statement of the latest six months and an Income Tax Return.
• If you are self-employed, a copy of your business license, your company's bank account statements of the last six months, as well as an Income Tax return, must be submitted.

• If you plan to travel to Norway to study for longer than three months, then you need to get a student visa.
• You need to have been offered admission into a Norwegian educational institution before you begin the process of getting a study permit.
• Once you have a confirmed admission offer to study full-time in Norway, you should obtain a visa application form and fill it accurately and completely before submitting. If your application form is not correctly filled in, this may delay the processing of your visa application.
• Your passport must be original with at least two blank pages for visa stamps, and be valid for not less than three months beyond the date you intend to leave Norway.
  
• You need medical travel insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000 to cover the entire duration of your stay in Norway, in case of any medical emergency.
  
• You also need to provide proof that you have the means to support yourself financially for the entire duration of your stay in Norway. Such proof could be scholarship details, bank account statements showing that you have NOK 121,220 to spend per year in Norway, or a letter of sponsorship from your parents or guardians assuming full responsibility for your financial needs with proof of their capability.
• If you are the recipient of a scholarship, student aid or similar grant, you are required to provide documents supporting this, showing your name, the monthly amount you are entitled to and the period during which you will receive the fund.
• If you have to pay tuition fees, you must also provide proof of sufficient funds to cover this.
• The circumstances in your home country must show that it is likely that you can return home at the end of your studies.
• You must also provide proof of accommodation for the entire duration of your study in Norway
• With a valid study permit, you can work part-time in Norway for up to 20 hours per week during school session and full-time on holidays.
• Applicants must pay a fee of NOK 5,300 for the Norwegian study permit if they are over 18.
• Applicants should note that it may be difficult for Rwandans to get a residence permit for studying at a lower level than Masters level.
