How to get a Sudan visa from Rwanda

• The Sudanese tourist visa is issued to foreign nationals who intend to travel to Sudan for tourism, sightseeing or other leisure activities.
  
• The Sudanese tourist visa is an entry visa that allows foreign nationals to stay in the country for a short period of time. Applicants travelling to visit relatives in Sudan may also apply for the entry visa.
• Rwandan passport used for your visa application must be original with at least two blank visa pages and a minimum of 6 months validity beyond your departure date from Sudan.
• You must submit a fully completed and signed visa application form as an incomplete or unsigned application form may delay the visa application process.
• You are required to submit 2 photographs (size 2x2cm) taken with a white background within the last 6 months. A passport-size photograph may be glued or attached with a paper clip to the visa application form but must NOT be cut, trimmed or stapled to the form.
• You must provide proof that you have a hotel or private accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Sudan.
• An invitation letter from your host in Sudan is required to obtain this visa. The invitation letter must state the purpose of your travel, length of your stay and where you intend to stay, with your host's contact information visible.
  
• Your host in Sudan (individual or company) is required to register your visit with the Sudan Foreign Ministry in order to obtain a Visa Approval. The ministry will then send the Visa Approval directly to the Sudanese Embassy in your country.
• If you don't have a host in Sudan, your Visa Approval can be obtained on your behalf by an approved hotel or travel agency in Sudan.
• Once your visa has been approved by the Foreign Ministry, you will be issued a visa approval number. You are to obtain this number from your host as it will be required for your visa application.
• You are advised to plan your travel carefully as waiting time for approval and visa can be up to 8 weeks.
• Please note that if you have an Israeli visa or stamp in your passport, you will be refused entry into Sudan.
• All foreign nationals must register within 24 hours of arriving in Sudan. The process costs S£250.
• In all towns you will be staying overnight, you are required to register with the police. Most hotels or guesthouses can, however, do this on your behalf as it is a free and straightforward process.
• All travel outside the capital city of Khartoum requires a travel permit; police will always request for this permit at each checkpoint.
• You can take one passport-size photo, a copy of your passport and visa to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. A permit covering everywhere you intend to visit (except the no-go areas) can be issued to you immediately.
• Alcohol is forbidden in Sudan, and attempting to import might result in severe penalties.
  

• The Sudanese business visa is issued to foreign nationals who intend to travel to Sudan for business purposes. This business visa is also an entry visa that allows foreign nationals to stay in the country for not more than 90 days.
  
• Rwandan passport used for your visa application must be original with at least two blank visa pages and a minimum of 6 months validity beyond your departure date from Sudan.
• You must submit 2 fully completed and signed visa application forms. Incomplete or unsigned application forms may delay the visa application process.
• You are required to submit 2 photographs (2x2) taken with a white background within the last 6 months. A passport-size photograph may be glued or attached with a paper clip to the visa application form but must NOT be cut, trimmed or stapled to the form.
• Computer-generated flight itinerary or a copy of your flight ticket indicating your name, date of arrival and departure from Sudan, and the flight information must be submitted.
• You must provide proof that you have a hotel or private accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Sudan.
• You are required to submit a signed business letter, written on your company letterhead and addressed to the Sudan Embassy in your country. The letter must state your full name, the nature of the business to be conducted in Sudan, the date of your visit, the name and address of the partner company in Sudan, type and validity of the requested visa. The letter must state the company's guarantee of financial responsibility for all your travel expenses.

• Rwandans who intend to work as employees in Sudan require a Sudanese work visa
• To obtain the Sudanese work visa, you must make a copy of the data page of your passport and of all visas in it.
• You must secure a job offer in Sudan with written proof of the offer before applying for a Sudanese work visa.
• If you have secured a job offer, your employer must get approval from the ministry of labour to verify that you are not doing a job a Sudanese citizen can do.
• If your employment is approved, you are required to get a letter from your Sudanese employer stating the company's name, your profession and the contract duration. This letter must be signed and stamped by the Country Director or their assistant in Sudan.
• You must also submit a completed work permit application form.
• You must be free of AIDS and must have an original certificate to attest to this.
• 3 coloured passport-size photographs (2x2) taken within the last 6 months with a white background must also be submitted.
• You are required to provide your resume and academic qualifications as proof that you are qualified for the position you intend to hold in Sudan.
• A copy of the technical agreement of the expected project you are to work on must be submitted.
• A police record from your country showing no criminal record must be submitted. Applicants with a pending police case may not be given a work visa.

You can extend your stay in Sudan for up to 30 days by taking your passport and a passport-size photo to the Passport, Immigration and Nationality Office in Khartoum, Sudan.

The official languages in Sudan are Arabic and English. However, English is not widely spoken except by students, officials and hospitality workers. You are more likely to find locals in the country's capital, Khartoum speaking some English.
