Basic Travel Requirements for Senegaleses visiting Mexico

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Mexican Visa.

  • A Senegal passport that is valid at arrival with at least one blank page for entry stamp. 
  • A duly completed and signed visa application form.
  • The parents or legal guardians are to sign the form if the applicant is a minor.
  • Three identical passport-size photographs (40 x 40 cm) must be submitted.
  • Applicants are required to show proof of financial capability by submitting a copy of the original bank statements of the last 6 months.
  • Proof of accommodation or hotel reservations is required.
  • A copy of the return flight ticket to Senegal is required.
  • Documentation showing the applicant’s ties to the home country such as land properties and utility bills are required.
  • A police report showing the traveller does not have a criminal record. Applicants with criminal records may face visa denial/rejection.
  • Medical insurance that covers the whole duration of stay in Mexico is required.
  • Documentation confirming the purpose of travel should also be submitted by the applicant.
  • A copy of the travel itinerary showing exit and entry date is required.
  • Applicants are to provide proof of the paid visa application fee.
  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if the applicant is coming from an infected area.

Mexico is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. The country is known for its beaches, culture and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In 2017, the number of visitors in Mexico was close to 40 million which was up 12 percent from 2016. It has been estimated that the number is going to increase at a rate of about 4.2 million per year.
 
Foreigners visiting Mexico will not be allowed entry into or exit from Mexico with more than $10,000 or its equivalent in any currency. Punishment for drug-related crimes are very severe and those who are caught engaging in any of these offenses will be jailed for a long period of time.

Mexico Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Mexican tourist visa allows foreigners to visit Mexico for the purpose of sight-seeing, relaxation, and recreation.
  • Senegalese with the intention of visiting relatives and families are expected to apply for a Mexican Tourist visa.
  • The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended period of stay in Mexico.
  • If the passport is not valid applicants are required to apply for a renewal before travelling.
  • An invitation letter from the host (business/tour organization, friend, or family member) in Mexico is required.
  • The letter should state the valid home address and telephone number of the host.
  • A proof of the applicant's present financial status for the whole duration of stay in Mexico must be provided. This should be done by submitting a recent bank or credit card statement.
  • Applicants are required to have at least USD 50 per day for the stay in Mexico.
  • A copy of the applicant's round-trip or tour ticket is required.
  • Applicants under 18 years old are to provide an unabridged original copy of their birth certificate and letter of consent signed by both parents.
  • A  document that shows that they have the incentive of returning to Senegal at the expiry of the visa should be submitted during the visa the application process.
  • Evidence that the visa application fee has been paid is required.
  • On this visa, applicants are not allowed to take up employment during their time in Mexico.
  • Travelers are advised to be vaccinated against yellow fever and malaria before traveling to Mexico.
  • Overstaying the visa is an offence that comes with serious consequences and applicant may be fined or banned from entering Mexico.
  • Applicants seeking extensions for their visas are to apply for it 30 days before the expiration date. 

Mexico Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Mexico business visa allows foreigners visiting Mexico to engage in various business activities.
  • Senegal citizens with this type of visa can attend business meetings and conferences, sign and negotiate business contracts with partner companies while in the country.
  • A passport with at least six months' validity must be provided.
  • A recent passport photograph is also needed for the application process and taken on a white background. 
  • Applicants of this visa who intend to attend business conferences in the country are advised to register for the conference before they leave Senegal. The certificate of registration should be submitted with the other necessary documents.
  • A  letter of invitation written on the company’s letterhead should be provided. The letter should state the duration and purpose of the visit to Mexico.
  • A letter in Spanish from the Senegal company indicating that the applicant is an employee and the applicant is of good morals.
  • If the travel expenses of the applicant will not be covered by the company, this should be expressly stated in the letter.
  • The certificate of business registration of the inviting company in Mexico is required.
  • Proof that you are a Senegal resident must be provided. Non-citizens should provide a copy of their stay permit.
  • Minors should ensure the original copy of their birth certificate is submitted with the other required documents. A letter of consent signed by both parents is also required.
  • Applicants on this visa cannot be paid for the services they render while they are in the country.
  • Applicants are required to leave Mexico at the expiration of the Mexican visa.
  •  Applicants have to declare their last three bank statements and letter stating current salary, or original letter from the person who financially supports them.
  • If you are planning to go to Mexico on a business trip for more than 30 days, applicants need to apply for a business visa for multiple entries.
