Application requirements
Documents Senegalese applicants need to provide.
- A duly completed visa application form signed by the applicant.
- A certified/notarized copy of the bio page of the applicant's passport is required.
- The applicant’s passport must be valid within the last 6 months beyond stay in South Africa and have two blank pages for the required visa stamp.
- Two (2) passport photos with a white or light background.
- Proof of legal status for non-Senegal citizens (Certified/notarized copy of permanent residence card.)
- Proof of itinerary/reservation of round trip air tickets. Please do not purchase air tickets until you obtain a South African visa.
- Proof of sufficient funds (in the form of three months recent bank statements stamped by the bank) for own maintenance for the duration of stay in South Africa.
- Proof of hotel accommodation (confirmed hotel reservation) or a letter of invitation from the host (relative or friend) in South Africa.
- Proof of host’s legal status in South Africa (copy of I.D. Book/ passport if South African citizen) or copy of passport and a copy of visa or residence status in South Africa, certified by the South African Police Service.
- Yellow fever certificate is required if the applicant is passing through the yellow fever belt area before entering South Africa.
- A non-refundable fee of $36.00 money should be paid to the Embassy of South Africa in Senegal.
- Certified/notarized copy of the birth certificate in case of children below 18 years
- Consent letter from the parent(s) in case of child/children travelling alone or with other parents
- A statement or documentation detailing the purpose and duration of the visit.
Visa type details
Tourist visa
- Senegal passport must be valid at least 30 days beyond intended stay in South Africa and contain two blank visa pages.
- The last three pages in the passport are reserved for Passport Amendments and cannot be used as visa pages.
- Tickets and Documents for return or onward travel.
- Hold proof of sufficient funds relative to your intended length of stay.
- Confirm with the airline that boarding will be permitted without a visa.
- Vaccinations - International Certificate of Vaccination required for Yellow Fever if Arriving from Infected Area within 5 days
- All applicants age 18 and under must hold an unabridged full birth certificate or a certified copy.
- If the minor is entering with one parent then the minor must also present an affidavit from the absent parent stating consent to travel or a court order stating the full parental right to the accompanying parent or a death certificate in case the other parent is deceased.
- If the minor is travelling with an adult other than the minor's parent (s) then the minor must also present an affidavit from the parents/legal guardians stating consent to travel, copies of identification documents of the parents/legal guardians and contact details of the parents/legal guardians.
- All documents should be carried by the minor when entering South Africa.
- Applicants are required to provide proof of sufficient funds by providing bank statements of the last 3 months, certified by the bank and not older than 7 days from the time of application.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applicant should note that failure to meet any of the following requirements will also render the application incomplete
- All supporting documents should be duly certified by the Police in South African Commissioner or Commissioner of Oaths.
- Invitation letter from the host in South Africa stating the purpose of visit, duration of stay and relationship with the applicant is required.
- The host could be either a family member, a friend or a tour organization in South Africa.
- The letter of invitation must be signed by the host.
- No fixed flight arrangements should be made until the visa has been attained.
Business visa
- The business visa is issued to foreigners visiting for business purposes such as attending business meetings and conferences, getting involved in trade fairs and signing business contracts with other business partners in South Africa.
- Passport should be valid for at least 3 months after the expiry date of the visa, with a minimum of two consecutive blank pages for visa stamp.
- Copy of the first and the last page of the applicant’s passport.
- Confirmed return air tickets to Senegal is required.
- The visa application form filled with a Black pen in block letters and duly signed by the applicant is required.
- 2 recent passport-size colour photographs taken against a white background is required.
- Covering letter mentioning the details of travel, details of the traveller with the contact number and expense ownership details.
- Original Senegal bank statements reflecting transactions of the last 3 months must be duly attested and signed by a bank official on bank letterhead.
- Confirmation of hotel booking mentioning the details of travel, details of the traveller, contact details of the hotel with authorized signature’s name, designation, and signature.
- Vaccination certificate, (yellow fever) If the applicant will travel through or stay in a yellow fever belt.
- Applicants are required to provide income Tax Returns for the last 3 years.
- All documents in a foreign language must be translated into English by a sworn translator.
- Please submit only certified copies of original documents except for Police Clearance(s). The Mission will not be held responsible if the original document is lost.
- Submission of Fake/Fraudulent documents is an offence. The Mission may refer such cases to relevant law enforcement authorities.
- The Mission may request any additional documents where and when necessary.
- Official passports will be submitted at South African High Commission.
