Basic Travel Requirements for South Africans visiting Monaco

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Monegasque Visa.

  • South African Passport which is valid for three months from the period of exit from the country is required. It must have at least one blank page for visa entry stamps.
  • Duly completed  and signed visa application form.
  • Two  recent passport photographs which follow the specification of a Monaco visa application.
  • Proof of financial sustenance for the duration of stay in the country.
  • Health Insurance that covers emergencies.
  • Proof of accommodation for duration of stay.
  • Your travel document and that of your companions should be submitted with your travel itinerary.
  • Return and onward ticket if necessary.
  •  If the applicant is a minor, parents/legal guardians will have to sign the visa application form and birth certificate for children younger than 12 is required.
  • Older passports that contain visa stickers or visa stamps.
  • Copies of bio-metric data in your passport. 
  • The application for this visa should be done at least 2 weeks and not more than 3 months to the trip date.

Monaco Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Foreigners who apply for the tourist visa intend to visit the country for tourism purposes. This include sightseeing, relaxation and recreation.
  • You can also visit friends and relatives while you are in the country.
  • If you are visiting a friend or relative in Monaco, you are required to present a letter of invitation containing the home address and telephone number of your host. 
  • Documentation of hotel booking is required.
  • The original birth certificate of minors is to be submitted.
  • Travel itinerary that describes the purpose of the visit, the arrival & intended exit date.
  • Tourists are not allowed to take up paid or unpaid employment while in the country.
  • You cannot be enrolled in any institution of learning with this visa.
  • Receipt of paid visa application fees should be tendered.
  • South African stay permit is required for non-citizens.
  • You are expected to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of your visa.
  • For retirees, a proof of your retirement fund is needed.
  • You are expected to leave the country at the expiry of your visa.
  • Immunization against hepatitis A and B is recommended.
  • The visa is valid for 3 months and costs €60 for adults, €35 for children between the ages of 6-12 and free for children under 6.
  • Letter of financial support and bank statement from the sponsors of the trip should be submitted.

Monaco Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The business visa is meant for travelers visiting Monaco to engage in various business activities.
  • With this visa, you can meet up with existing and intending partners in the country to develop and maintain business relationships.
  • You can also negotiate and sign business contracts while in the country.
  • Holders of the business visa can attend summits, conferences and trade fairs while in the country.
  • An invitation letter from the host company in Monaco should be provided. This  letter should contain the company's address, the duration and purpose of  the applicant's visit.
  • Certificate of business registration of the company you are visiting should also be provided.
  • A letter from your current employer in South Africa written on a company letterhead should be provided. This letter should state your position in the company and that the employer is aware of the leave and the duration.
  • If you are traveling with a minor, a letter of consent signed by both parents is required.
  • If you have prior business dealings with the company, a proof of this is needed.
  • Immunization against hepatitis A and B is strongly recommended.
  • You cannot be paid for any of the services rendered while in the country.
  • The visa is valid for 90 days and is usually processed within 15 days.
  • A letter from the inviting company affirming that they will cover your expenses for the duration of your stay is important.
