Basic Travel Requirements for South Africans visiting Nauru

Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for a Nauruan Visa.


  • Valid national passport which has a validity of 6 months beyond the completion of the trip with at least one blank page for entry and exit stamp.
  • Proof of financial capability that shows you can cater for yourself during the period of your stay in the Nauru.
  • Duly completed application form which has been signed where necessary.
  • One recent passport-size photograph taken with a white background. The passport should follow the photo specification for a visa application.
  • Valid travel insurance.
  • Certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever.
  • Vaccines against Hepatitis A, Typhoid are recommended.
  • Booster doses for tetanus-diphtheria and measles, and a one-time dose of polio for adults are recommended 
  • See your doctor at least 4-6 weeks before your trip to allow time for shots to take effect.
  • Hepatitis B vaccine is now recommended for all infants and for children 11-12 years of age who did not receive the series as infants.
  • Return and onward ticket.
  • Copy of travel itinerary.
  • Proof of accommodation for the duration of your stay in the country which could be hotel reservation or letter of invitation from a sponsor in Nauru.
  • Proof of clean criminal record from a South African police station.
  • The visa is valid for 30 days with a stay of 30 days as well.
  • You can extend your stay for no more than 30 days.
